Some Other Place: Volunteers are especially needed to help deliver meals to homebound recipients. This involves only an hour or two of your day. Henry’s Place at SOP has a need for volunteers every weekday. They would welcome your help! For volunteer opportunities, call (409) 832-7976.

SPOTLIGHT ON COMMUNITY OUTREACH PARTNERS

Orange County Special Angels Rodeo: Started in 2014, the last rodeo was held in 2019, and hosted nearly 350 participants, more than 500 volunteers, and countless family members, caretakers, and spectators. The event is open to all special needs individuals regardless of age, disability, county/parish of residency, race, religious background, or socioeconomic level. More than 2,500 servings of food were handed out, free of charge, to those on site. Dozens of games and activities were available for our participants to enjoy. This year’s rodeo will take place Saturday, November 11th.

Volunteers are needed the day of the event, for setup during the days leading up to the event, or for fundraisers and other activities throughout the year. Contact Volunteer Coordinator-Evita Kimmer at [email protected].

If you would like to be involved in the planning of Special Angels Rodeo and possibly serve one or more of their committees, they meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at in Orange at 6:30pm. 702 W. Division, Orange. (409)-651-9948.

The 2023 Community Outreach Grant from St. Mark’s went toward a fully adaptive rodeo POS system to collect funds.

The Daughters of the King are proud to announce that there has been an ongoing memorial set up in honor of Kathleen Boudreaux and Neal Nielsen. The Daughters are putting together hygiene bags to give to the homeless that come to the St. Mark’s Food Pantry and Friday Morning Ministry.  Those who knew and love Kathleen & Neal, knew that they loved the Friday Morning Ministry. If anyone wants to donate to this Memorial, just write a note on your check that it is for the "DOK Hygiene Bags". We are hoping to keep this going and welcome your assistance.
