Parent Liaison Collaborative

We invite you to join the Wellness in Schools Parent Liaison Collaborative. The primary goal is to establish a nurturing network for parent liaisons and other school staff who support parents and families across Contra Costa County, focusing on improving mental health communication between parents and schools. 


The second collaborative will be focused on the topics of school mental health days and school refusal. We will be hosting a Q&A panel with guests from Charlie Health, Kaiser Healthier Generations, and John Muir Behavioral Health, who will answer questions and share their expertise and insights on this important issue

Mindful Educators: Mental Health Foundations

WISP is providing a free training that will increase basic understanding of mental health, reduction of stigma, address community supports and increase awareness on how to access mental health supports in the Contra Costa Community.


  • Recognize potential risk factors & warning signs of a variety of mental health challenges common among youth.
  • Recognize the need to reduce stigma around mental health and steps to take to reduce mental health stigma in your community
  • Learn how to be a trusted adult, how to talk to a student in need, and where to obtain local, regional, and national mental health resources for your students.

Contra Costa Crisis Center offers 211 Database Training once per month. If your organization is interested, Contra Costa Crisis Center can also schedule a group training session online. 211 database training is provided at no cost.

Vaping & Teens 101: A Webinar for Parents and Other Caring Adults

Virtual

6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.


A live virtual presentation from adult and youth presenters. The presentation will be in English with simultaneous Spanish interpretation. Closed captioning with translation in multiple languages will also be available. Topics to be covered include: the latest tobacco products used by young people, the impact of vaping (tobacco & cannabis) on young people, and ways that adults can support young people in their lives. TUPE will also share information and resources from our new resource, Substance Use, Mental Health, & Teens: A Guide for Parents & Other Caring Adults.

Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention Training

Virtual


A brief overview on suicide risk assessment where participants will explore the issue of suicide, learn current suicide related statistics, understanding suicide risk factors, learn how to assess for the level of suicide lethality, and a brief introduction to specific interviewing techniques for collecting accurate risk assessment information.
