Celebrating the Class of 2026!


VWU celebrated the Class of 2026 during Commencement exercises held

May 16 in TowneBank Arena at the Jane P. Batten Student Center, as

graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas before family, friends, faculty, and staff. President Scott D. Miller and Dr. Gonsalves-Jackson

conferred degrees upon undergraduate and graduate students. The University also conferred honorary degrees upon keynote speaker Cliff Fleet, who received the Doctor of Humane Letters (honoris causa), and educator and civic leader Cecelia T. Tucker, who was posthumously awarded the Doctor of Humane

Letters (honoris causa). Her daughter, Dr. Kelly J. Tucker, accepted the

honorary degree on her mother’s behalf.

Baccalaureate Service

Celebrates Faith, Calling and the Journey Ahead


Members of the Class of 2026 attended the annual Baccalaureate Service on May 15 which offered graduates a moment of reflection, gratitude, and encouragement before the Commencement ceremony. Alumnus Rev. Brian Boettcher, Class of 2012, delivered the sermon and was presented with the Wesley Award. Members of the Class of 2026 played important roles throughout the service. Madison Moore, Jake Hofstetter, Tyler Barnett, Stephanie Clark, Mary Brennan, Aviana Medina, Grace Harriman, and Ethan Mejzak served as student leaders, offered the invocation, read scripture, and shared reflections.

Graduates Receive Medallions During Jane P. Batten Honors College Capstone Ceremony


On May 15, the Jane P. Batten Honors College recognized graduating seniors who completed the honors college requirements during a special Capstone Ceremony. Sarah Richards, Class of 2026, was selected by her classmates to deliver the keynote addressDean of the Batten Honors College Dr. Travis Malone recognized the winner and finalists of the Ryan Environmental Prize for Excellence in Research. Tyler Noll received the top honor, while Stephanie Clark, Jasmine Gorney, and Lily Reslink were recognized as finalists. Elena Lichtenwalner received the Audience Award.

Undefeated Marlins Punch Ticket to

NCAA Division III World Series


For the third time in four seasons, the softball powerhouse at Virginia Wesleyan University is headed back to the NCAA Division III World Series. The top-ranked and unbeaten Marlins erupted offensively from the opening inning and never looked back, rolling past Case Western Reserve University by a 15-0 final in the NCAA Super Regional. Virginia Wesleyan improved to a perfect 50-0 on the season while securing its place among the final eight teams in Division III softball.
