Kentucky Wesleyan College
A Newsletter for Our Alumni and Friends // December 2017

  Giving Season is Upon Us!

One of the most important times of the year for non-profit entities is the end of the calendar year. According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, nearly half of charitable gifts occur during the last three months of the year, and 40 percent of online gifts occur in December. By making a year-end gift, individuals and businesses can not only feel good about helping others, but also enjoy additional tax advantages created through charitable contributions.

Kentucky Wesleyan is fortunate to have a large group of alumni and friends who support the College generously. Since 2014, enrollment is up 10.5 percent and over $12 million has been raised to benefit our General Scholarship Fund and other institutional programming.

Innovative partnership with the Candler School of Theology at Emory University announced

Kentucky Wesleyan College has announced a new partnership with the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Candler is considered one of the nation's premier theology schools in the United States and beyond. This innovative partnership offers automatic admission and guaranteed scholarships for Kentucky Wesleyan students who qualify for the program.

President Barton D. Darrell '84 remarked about the partnership, saying, "Kentucky Wesleyan is committed to its connection with the United Methodist Church, and this incredible partnership is an extension of our commitment to offering an affordable high-level, faith-based education. To partner with a premier seminary like the Candler School of Theology at Emory University is confirmation of the high quality faculty, students and staff here at Wesleyan."

College receives $187,228 on Giving Tuesday
Thank You Students, Alumni, Employees and Community

Kentucky Wesleyan College received $187,228 in charitable gifts during Giving Tuesday - a 27 percent increase over last year's total - from more than 200 alumni and friends of the College.

The Giving Tuesday effort was preceded by the third annual Wesleyan Way Day of Service, which included 417 hours of community service throughout Owensboro and Daviess County carried out by Wesleyan students, employees and alumni.

The two-day event has totaled nearly $500,000 in charitable gifts to the College and over 900 hours of service to local community partners over the past three years.
