Wesleyan and the college community reaffirmed its commitment to honor, support, integrity and love last November with the inaugural Wesleyan Way Day of Service and Giving Tuesday in 2015. During the two-day event, 141 volunteers gave 172 hours in service to the community, and alumni friends, staff and faculty gave 275 gifts to the tune of $113,054. Giving Tuesday is a world-wide day of giving fueled by the power of social media and the spirit of collaboration, while the Day of Service is a Wesleyan event guided by the principles of The Wesleyan Way.

As we gear up for Year Two, we hope you'll consider investing in Wesleyan on Nov. 29 by visiting kwc.edu/give, stopping by to see us in Room 105 at the Barnard-Jones Administration Building, or by calling 270-852-3142.

If you'd like to get plugged in on the Wesleyan Way Day of Service, contact Blake Harrison at bharrison@kwc.edu

As you serve and give, encourage others by using #WesleyanServes and #WesleyanGives on social media. Every volunteer matters . . . every dollar counts.

Help make a difference in 2016

We will share this year's totals in the next issue of The Wesleyan Way.

Margaret Cole Cambron '78
Director of Career Development

"I was a horrible alumna for many years. I lived right here in Owensboro, and I didn't give to my alma mater or attend events. I was not connected to Wesleyan in any way, even though the College reached out to me. I wasted many years when I could have been supporting the College.

I joined the Wesleyan staff as Director in April 2010, and I began to realize what the College had done for me so many years before when I was a student. I had learned how to learn as a Wesleyan student, and with the perspective of the years, I could see and appreciate that truth very clearly.

I had prayed for a job where I could make a difference that also provided benefits to employees. God gave me the job of my dreams, and the benefits are far beyond anything in an HR handbook.

Our students energize me, and I love the people I work with; so I am surrounded by our students and surrounded by faculty and staff who care about them and for them. What an atmosphere!

I believe in what we do here. I started to give financially in 2010, and I joined the President's Circle when it was created last year.

I work with students every day who benefit from the generosity of our investors. So many of our students don't have it easy, and I want to help.

When I give to an organization, I want to know the money is used wisely. I know that happens here at Wesleyan. I trust President Darrell, and I believe in the direction in which he is taking us. Our leadership makes wise decisions.

Every check written and every dollar given contributes to changing lives."

Kentucky Wesleyan College invites high school seniors and those interested in transferring to Wesleyan to Wesleyan Uncovered on Nov. 17-18, an overnight event highlighting campus life and classroom activity.

Students will have the opportunity to experience campus life through the eyes of a current student and learn more about the history and heritage of our school. You will stay in one of our residential halls and eat in the Hocker Dining Hall as you soak up life as a Wesleyan student.

On Friday, you will attend a lecture on the topic of your choice taught by some of our incredible faculty and begin to truly understand the one-on-one attention we offer at Wesleyan.

To attend, students need to register online here. For more information, click here or contact the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at 270-852-3120 or at admissions@kwc.edu.

The holiday season would not be complete without Kentucky Wesleyan's sixth annual Festival of Lessons & Carols. The glorious St. Stephen Cathedral is hosting this two-night event, and the Kentucky Wesleyan Singers will sing anthems on the themes of love, redemption and expectation. They will perform ancient chants and hymns, proclaim the good news in "Southern Harmony" style and will premiere two new pieces written by Dr. Bradley Naylor, director of choral music. Attendees will add their voices to the celebration by singing well-loved carols. Come join in this season of expectation with Kentucky Wesleyan College!

Tickets ($10 for adults and $5 for seniors or students with an ID) are available  here or by calling Peggie Greer at 270-852-3117.
