Let's Talk About It - A Periodic Series
Sunday, February 17, 10:10 a.m.
in the Ruth Christie Room

Facilitated by Dick Haden
White people are unaccustomed to talking about race and its implications in their lives. Yet, at some level, everyone recognizes that racism and prejudice have a profound impact on our communities and our country. We need opportunities to experience the challenges and benefits that come from bringing racial issues into the light of day. All are welcome to join us on February 17 as we continue the journey of exploring our beliefs about race, with openness to differing opinions and respect for one another.

Conversations about Racism - Actions to Address the Issues We Face
A six-week series beginning the week of February 24 (multiple times, multiple locations)
In order to have healthy communities and a strong country, we need to face racism head-on. In a democracy, there must be ways for everyone to have a voice in finding the solutions and in carrying them out. So let's talk. These study circles are multi-racial groups of 8-12 individuals led by trained facilitators, culminating in an "Action Forum" on Sunday, April 14. Click here to learn more.
Save the Date! Vacation Bible School 2019
July 22 - July 26, 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Westminster
"To Mars and Beyond" is our theme for this summer's VBS. Campers will explore where God's Power can take them. Even though July seems far away, we are already making plans for a fun-filled week of Bible stories, games, music, and crafts. We are currently seeking adults to serve as teachers and leaders. Please contact me if you can help. *Teen helpers can contact me in March. Thanks everyone! - Robin Rosser ( [email protected])

On Sunday, January 20, Chief Justice Leo E. Strine, Jr. and Justice Collins J. Seitz, Jr. spoke at Westminster about race and justice in the Delaware courts. In recent years, the Delaware Supreme Court has launched multiple projects to examine the problems of race and poverty in achieving civil and criminal justice and to identify potential reforms. News to Note
Souper Bowl of Caring Sets a
New Record!
While many thought this year's Super Bowl was a real snoozer, our Souper Bowl of Caring was a definite winner! Last year was the first time our youth collected more than $1,000 ($1,017). This year we topped that record by collecting $1,258. Way to go team! Many thanks to all who gave so generously and joyfully. Our Souper Bowl of Caring collection will be divided between the Hanover Food Pantry and Lutheran Community Services to provide funds for their hunger ministries that help people in need.

Stork Boy

The boy, almost alone in the garden, sees air bubbling up from the bottom of a fountain. He does what any ten-year-old male would do - he sticks his face into the pool and tries to catch the rising bubbles in his mouth. Can he catch enough to breathe under water? That is his question. What is possible? What can I do? He is not yet set on doing anything in particular, certainly not a career, but he is keenly interested in finding his limits. God help him reach the age of thirty!
