A Message from Gregory
Knox Jones

Dated Tuesday, October 13, 2020
The maple trees are beginning their autumn display as cooler temperatures mark our days. Those of us who walk, run or garden are celebrating. Good riddance to the heat and humidity!

THIS MONTH'S THEME: Transforming Lives
TONIGHT: Environmental Justice
Thursday, October 15, 7:00 p.m. via Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86027521655)
Discriminatory upheaval in our natural environment contributes to discriminatory upheaval in our neighborhoods and throughout the planet. Protecting the dynamic balance in our natural environment nurtures a dynamic equilibrium within our neighborhoods. Join Westminster's Peace and Justice Work Group as we hear Delaware Interfaith Power & Light's Mr. John Sykes, founder & board president, Ms. LaVaida Owens-White, board vice-president and community health nurse, and Shweta Arya, Outreach Director and environmental educator, explore the complex and profound connections between healthy environments, healthy lives, and safe and healthy communities. Join us at the Zoom link above, or go to zoom.us/join, enter Meeting ID 860 2752 1655 and click "Join."
Quarterly Contribution Statement
Westminster will send an email tomorrow (Friday, October 16) to those who have made contributions in 2020. Please click on the link in the email to view your statement. There is a cover letter on page one and the statement is on page two. If you have made contributions in 2020 and did not receive a statement or have a question, please contact Colleen Falasco, Director of Financial Operations, at cfalasco@wpc.org (preferred) or 302-654-5214 ext. 131. Thank you for your support of the church this year and for taking the time to review your statement as of September 30, 2020 to be sure it matches your records.
Four Spots Left! Worship Service in Our Sanctuary (October 18)
Sunday, October 18, 9:00 a.m.
Our Session voted unanimously to reopen our sanctuary on Sunday mornings for one worship service at 9:00 a.m. beginning Sunday, October 18. Attendance is limited and an online reservation (one per family) is required. When we reach the maximum number of reservations we can host, the reservations will close. The Session has established a number of guidelines for your safety, which include social distancing, wearing a facial mask/covering, and the use of no-touch sanitizing stations. Click here to read all of the guidelines. The liturgy will be emailed to you after you make your online reservation. Congregants are encouraged to print the liturgy from home and bring it to the service or pull it up on your mobile device; a limited number of printed copies will be available. The decision to attend in-person worship rests with each individual. In-person worship in the sanctuary does not replace our online worship service, which will continue to be available on our website at www.wpc.org. To make your online reservation for October 18 worship in the sanctuary, click here!
Availability of Our Recorded Worship Service This Sunday
Sunday, October 18
For our first in-person worship service in the sanctuary this Sunday, October 18, the service will be recorded. It will not be livestreamed because our videographers are learning our new camera system and testing the live streaming. Therefore, after the service is recorded on the 18th, it will be uploaded to YouTube (and Facebook). We expect the worship service to become available by 1:00 p.m. that day. Going forward, we hope to begin livestreaming the worship services on Sunday, October 25. That will allow you to watch the service live at 9:00 a.m. or any time after that.
New Drop-Off for Your Emmanuel Dining Room Donations
Sunday mornings, 8:45 - 10:00 a.m.
Now that we are holding a 9:00 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary, we have a new location for your much needed donations: the front row of our church parking lot next to the steps that lead to the 1502 entrance. Cars will have their hatches/trunks open and someone will be there to collect your donation from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Emmanuel Dining Room is so grateful for sandwiches, bottles of water, fruit, and cookies. Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity.
Colaborate Sunday School for Tweens
Sunday, October 18, 4:15 - 5:00 p.m. on Zoom
Tweens (grades 5-8) will enjoy gathering with friends for a Zoom time led by Mrs. Mary Anne Peters and Mr. Tom Hogue (click here to learn more about Mary Anne and Tom). All questions and curiosity about faith and God are so important. Your stories, Bible, and the Colaborate booklet are all you will need for this time of sharing and exploring. Please contact Susan Alexander (susanalexander@wpc.org) if you would like to receive a booklet. You will receive your Zoom invitation from Alexis Droke (alexisdroke@wpc.org).
180 Youth Meeting in the
Parking Lot
Sunday, October 18, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
in the WPC parking lot
The rain got in the way of our fun last week, so join us this Sunday in the Westminster parking lot for games and a time to catch up with each other. Bring a snack for yourself and your mask. See you there!
UrbanPromise Virtual Banquet
Thursday, October 22, 7:00 p.m. on Zoom (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86027521655)
Next week, Westminster's Peace & Justice Work Group will proudly support the 2020 virtual UrbanPromise banquet. The banquet is a celebration of abundant life through the voices of children, teens, parents, and staff. Westminster has embraced this inner-city Christian mission since 1998. Use the Zoom link above, or go to zoom.us/join, enter Meeting ID 860 2752 1655 and click "Join." For more information, go to www.urbanpromise.org.

God's Vision is Clear...We Are All in This Together!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, with challenges all around us, Westminster has remained vibrant, strong, and continues to lift us up. Our mission work has remained active within our community and even beyond our borders with ongoing efforts in Guatemala and Syria. Your pledge of support is very important as we move forward into 2021. If you have never pledged before, please consider doing so now. If you regularly pledge, we are truly grateful. You may make your 2021 pledge on our website at www.wpc.org/pledge. We gratefully appreciate your support by November 22.

Peace & Justice Banner
Westminster's Peace & Justice Work Group continues its programs of speaker events, Thursday evening education programs, local partnerships and advocacy initiatives. Our purpose is visible to the community thanks to the work of the Phix-It Corps, who mounted our banner in the church cloister along Pennsylvania Avenue for all to see. We're sharing it with you here in case you haven't yet had a chance to drive by! We encourage each of you to join us in this critically important work that God is calling us to do. For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Mike Gnade (mgnade@hotmail.com or 302-562-4464), Lynne Kielhorn (lynne@kielhorn.us or 302-593-5527), or Sue Linderman (srlinder@dca.net or 302-239-7650).
