Clean water for God's thirsty children
The Widow's Mite

Sue's gift comes in a regular envelope, once a year. We open it up and there's the money order for $1, sometimes $2.

Tucked in with it, there's always a note along the lines of: "I really like what you do, but I can't help you all the time."

It's all we can do to not tear up.

Sue is an elderly woman, living in a small house in a very poor part of town.

Jesus spoke of the people making a show of their large gifts, noting that they had already received their reward. But he noted the poor widow, who gave not from her extra resources, but from her substance, adding that she would receive the greater reward at a later time.

At Water With Blessings , we are always overwhelmed by people's generosity. But once a year, we receive a gift that sums up our mission -- one woman sacrificing to bring clean water to her neighbors and to their thirsty children.

May God reward her, and all of our donors, abundantly -- "a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over." (Luke 6:38)
It doesn't take a lot to provide
Water With Blessings

As we noted last week, Water With Blessings received its first bequest when a generous donor put us in her will. In the past few days, several people signed up to have a percentage of their Kroger purchases come to us through the Community Rewards Program .

To our great surprise, several people have told us recently that their gifts are a part of the stimulus checks they have received.

And every gift, large and small, helps put filters and buckets
into the hands of new Water Women .

If you've helped us recently, we thank you once again. If you haven't please consider making a gift today.

Calling All Crafters...
Over the years, our friends have made thousands of crocheted covers (pictured above) for the Sawyer PointONE filters used by our Water Women.

We thank all of those who have made the covers. Now we have a new craft to add to our filter kit -- a decorated hanging loop, which will help Water Women keep up with the all-important cleanout syringe . We're introducing this as part of our Navajo Nation project.

This is a really simple, easy craft -- something kids can do.The loop can be crocheted or braided.

Just click on the button below for instructions for the hanging loops.

Please let us know if you are willing to make some, and if you have any questions. We hope to start getting these into kits as soon as possible!
A Very Special Coffee Chat Coming Up Friday
Edith Brabender grew up in the Navajo Nation in the southwestern United States. When she was a child, her family's water was hauled in -- they had no running water.

One day, she and her siblings had an unpleasant surprise. Join us this Friday, June 19, and hear Edith share her story. We'll also give you an update on the progress of our water project for the Navajo Nation.

The Coffee Chat, every Friday morning at 9, has become a tradition for Water With Blessings. Please consider making it part of your week.
We believe every child should be drinking clean water. Are you with us?
