Covenant Class will meet in Davidson College’s Dana building #145. John Kuykendall concludes a three-week series on The Varieties of Religious Experience Revisited. 125 years ago, an American scholar named William James accepted an invitation to deliver the prestigious Gifford Lectures on Natural Religion at the University of Edinburgh. Working with some ideas from the relatively new discipline of psychology, James amassed numerous first-person narratives of religious experience from a variety of times and circumstances. In these three weeks together, we will explore experiential phenomena such as conversion, saintliness and mysticism, using William James as our guide as we consider the dimensions of religious life in the 21st century.

Holland Jubilee will meet in 216. Jane Campbell begins a two-week series on LGBT Issues at the Community, State and National Level.

Maloney Class will meet in Room 215. Van Lear Logan will teach on Helping Neighbors in Need, Deuteronomy 15:1–11; Matthew 25:31–46; Luke 10:25–27; James 1:27; 2:14–17.

Pines Class will meet in the Living Room on the Pines campus. Bill Cockrill will teach on Helping Neighbors in Need, Deuteronomy 15:1–11; Matthew 25:31–46; Luke 10:25–27; James 1:27; 2:14–17.

Love and Logic will meet in the Congregation House with Dr. Deedee Russell and the Connections Class.

Sunday School for children meet at 9:45-10:45 a.m.

Birth to 2's sing and hear about Jesus's friends (Mark 1, 3).

PreK to third graders will consider declaring Jesus as Messiah (Matt. 16).

Fourth and fifth graders will read the story of Jonah (Jonah 3-4).

Children rehearse and consider ideas and actions during play. Our worship tables now have sanctuary play sets: pews, pulpit, table, baptismal font, etc. Our goal with both the tables and worship bags is to engage children in worship (not to make them quiet). Children are invited to sketch, trace Bible illustrations, act out parts of worship through play, all while listening and participating in the acts of worship.

For those who are looking for something other than a study for the devotional time, try lectio divina. Lectio Divina or Divine Reading is a spiritual practice that focuses on the reading, meditation, prayer and contemplation of biblical texts. Unlike a Bible study, it is a way of reading scripture devotionally in order to foster a deeper relationship with God. For more information, contact Deborah Conner at dconner@dcpc.org. You can sign up for this Lectio Divina class by using the link below for the Wednesday night study/devotional.

Dinner for next Wednesday is Taco Bar!

Lenten Dinners and Devotionals Join members and friends of DCPC on Wednesdays in Lent for dinner and/or devotionals, through March 25th. The buffet line opens at 5:45 and closes by 6:45. The devotionals are led by the pastors and they are from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., also in the Congregation House.

This study is led by all of the pastors and includes a contemplative, lectio divina track (see below). The cost for dinner is: Free for children under 3, $5 for children 3 through 5th grade, and $10 for anyone in 6th grade or beyond. $30 family maximum. Praying for Peace An invitation from one of our partners for peace in the Middle East, Pilgrims of Ibillin, which supports the Mar Elias Educational Institution (MEEI) in the Galilee region of Israel (near the border with Lebanon). In addition to supporting MEEI through Pilgrims of Ibillin, DCPC also supports the Near East School of Theology in addition to Pilgrims of Ibillin. Please keep both groups and the students they support in your prayers.
