Spring Watering and Conservation

As we wait for spring's first green shoots, we are reminded of our shared promise to live with intention. At Windler, we are stewards of the land. After a notably dry winter with little snowpack, our soil is starting the season with a deficit. Nurturing our gardens while respecting our natural resources is essential to "The Windler Way."

To grow together sustainably, please follow the City of Aurora year-round conservation measures:

  • The Three-Day Rule: Water your lawn no more than three days per week.
  • Time of Day: From May 1 through Sept. 30, outdoor watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Before turning on your irrigation, "surprise with delight" by giving your landscape extra care. Use the screwdriver test to check moisture, and use "cycle and soak" methods to help our clay soil absorb water. Finally, inspect sprinkler heads for winter damage as a gesture of kindness to our shared environment.

Chai Blending Class - Last Week to Register

Saturday, March 21 | 11am-1pm

Most people think "Chai" is just a tea bag and some hot milk, but real Chai is a symphony of spice and a ritual that has fueled generations. If you have been looking for that "soul-warming" cup you can never replicate at home, this is your moment.

The Experience

We are thrilled to welcome Journey Chai for an exclusive, hands-on workshop. Because we believe the little things matter most, this is a sensory deep dive where you will create your own unique blend.

What You’ll Master

You will explore the anatomy of spices like peppercorn and cardamom while discovering the specific black tea bases that remain smooth and bold. Our guest experts will then guide you through the "Golden Ratio" for aromatic balance and the traditional simmering techniques needed to unlock a perfect cup.

You will leave with the intuition of a blender and the confidence to tweak your morning cup to match your mood. Chai is an invitation to slow down and infuse kindness into your daily routine.

Ready to blend?

The Legacy of Anna Windler

In the expansive landscape of Northern Aurora, history isn't just found in textbooks; it’s built into the very soil beneath our feet and the roots of the trees we plant.

This Women’s History Month, we look back to 1881, the year Anna Windler helped establish a homestead that would define this land for over 140 years. To truly understand the spirit of our community today, one must first understand the woman who first called it home. Her life was a shared promise to the land—one defined by the same intention, kindness, and curiosity that we strive to uphold today. She didn't just build a house; she created a sense of acceptance and belonging that serves as the blueprint for "The Windler Way".

The Architect of the Homestead

When Anna Windler arrived on these plains, the horizon was wide and the resources were thin. While her husband Henry worked the fields, Anna was the heart of the 160-acre operation. In a time before modern irrigation, the survival of a Colorado homestead rested on a woman’s ability to turn dust into a garden and a house into a sanctuary. Anna didn't just live on the land; she lived with intention, cultivating a legacy of sustainability and endurance.

A Living Map of History

Today, the Windler community is designed for belonging. We haven't just preserved Anna's name; we’ve preserved her values, ensuring her history is woven into the physical landmarks where we connect intentionally:

  • 1881 Farm Park: Standing on the site of the original homestead, this 10-acre park serves as an "agricultural exploratorium." It honors Anna’s daily reality with community orchards, ensuring we grow together while keeping the land as productive as it was in the 1880s.
  • Anna’s Place: Named in her honor, this central social hub serves as the community's "front porch." It reflects the frontier hospitality Anna provided, creating a space where everyone belongs and can share kindness.
  • Reclaimed Spirit: From weathered wood to preserved prairie views, our environment is a continuous conversation with the past.

Why Her Story Endures

Women’s History Month is an opportunity to recognize that the strength of our community was built by women like Anna. She represents the homesteaders whose labor ensured these lands thrived. As the sun sets over the Rockies, we are reminded that we don't just live at Windler; we Live Windler. We are the stewards of Anna’s land, and her legacy of resilience is the foundation upon which we grow your life.
