Windmill for Dec 1st, 2022

The latest Updates

President Chris opened the meeting and as usual gave us one of his jokes for the day.  As a professional comedian I can’t repeat the joke if I didn’t write it. But everyone did laugh!!

The speaker today was Dr. Philip Bernstein from Kaiser, San Diego and he was riveting in his explanation of the new upcoming techniques that ironically copied telecommunication devices seen on the Baby Boomer Cartoon, “The Jetsons”! That was one of my personal favorite shows as a child…and then he showed us how it comes to play.  Doctors seeing you in the comfort of your home with a few devices compatible with a computer can change our lives!

Example: ear infections.  Together, with a device already given to the patient by the Doctor, he can discern from the computer on his end what type of infection it is. That’s a real breakthrough in today’s “tele visits” and he heralded Kaiser’s care. I was moved by his presentation and was sorry when the bell range.  He had a lot more to say but, let me suggest following him on social media or get on his mailing list to stay in the loop!

Thank you to Nanci Cohen for leading the pledge, Jim Crane for his “Thought of the Day” regarding all the events that took place on December 1st and questionably, the singing of the USC fight song (at a UCLA Club-go figure) by our PP and Maestro Ed Gauld.

Special Guest today included Incoming District Governor Elect Makiko Nakasone.

Special Thanks to PP Mark Rogo from sharing information on his recent travels to Istanbul and Jerusalem with his best friend and best man at his wedding, Pete Rosenberg.  PP Mark presented a banner from the Istanbul Club and told us about the youngest member of the Haifa Rotary in Israel, Menachem Getz who is 84 years young.

PP Steve Day brought the Club up to date on the Impact Club. Look for more information to come on this new addition to the WVRC and how your friends and family members can participate.  President Chris also updated the Club on the success he is having with getting information into schools regarding Human Trafficking both through the Catholic Schools and the Brentwood Schools.

Special thank you to Sunda Croonquist for writing this week’s Windmill – her first!! Great job Sunda and, thank you.
