Singapore – PP and Pres Chris Gaynor walked us through an impressive array of photos of his recent visit to Singapore with his wife Rose. They included stunning flora, super tall trees, a huge waterspout and grotto, and unique architectural accomplishments.
Vietnam – another pictorial tour of Hanoi including Ho Chi Minh’s home and palace and cars, the street scenes around Hanoi and markets. The photos say it all.
La Ha Bay – The group drove there. They had a 26-person boat all to themselves (four people) and found it beautiful and luxurious.
Paradise Cave – a UNESCO Heritage site. They flew from Hanoi and experienced incredible caves with stalagmite caves at enormous heights, toured underground cities in caves that people lived in during the Vietnam War, housing up to 60,000 people, in the center of Vietnam. Near Hue.
Hai – All four had custom shirts and jackets made.
The trip ended up in Saigon (Ho chi Minh city) and elsewhere. Chris emphasized the many motorbikes and very few cars. There really weren’t any real traffic lights in Saigon but somehow people make it work.
Tragically, PP Chris ran out of time, including the fact that we didn’t get to Siem Reap (sounds like something I ate for dinner) and their Temples.
PP Chris does a terrific job of researching his trips ahead of time and putting together incredible agendas to maximize the whole experience. They try exotic foods, sleep in exotic places, and travel any way they can. Adventurous as they are, Chris and Rose also recognize how fortunate they are to have these opportunities. If you’re going somewhere exotic, call PP Chris and he is happy to share his notes!
Special thank you to PP Dwight Heikkila for leading the pledge and, PP Marsha Hunt for the special poem she stated as the “Thought of the Day”.
