PRESIDENT CHRIS’ SWAN SONG
The last meeting of President’s Chris’ Rotary year went off almost on time and began with PP Dwight Heikkila leading the pledge, VP Benjamin Fisher reciting famous quotes as “Thought of the Day” and, Maestro PP Ed Gauld leading us in “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow”!!!
Special guest included Jerry Burkstein formerly of LA5 and friend of PP Mark Rogo and, UCLA Incoming President Sarah Huang.
President Chris began by thanking members of the Club (only those in attendance), Mark Rogo (lifeblood of the Club), Steve Day, Diane Good (the person behind the curtain), Benjamin Fisher, Dwight Heikkila, Jim Crane, Ed Gauld and Roozbeh who assisted him during the year and, expressing how quickly the year has gone by.
He then began to end his term by telling jokes (which made us all think perhaps the year had not gone by fast enough)! We heard about a Sargent in the Army and something about military time; a woman who gives no money to family; an earthquake and McGinty in Room 613; Mother Superior on her death bed with Irish whiskey; a helicopter ride at the State Fair; a Captain of a Ship versus a Lighthouse – you truly had to be there to appreciate the humor!! President Chris finished with some commo- sense words of wisdom (letting the cat out of the bag is easier than trying to put it into a bag) for instance and wishing Incoming President Steve Day a great upcoming Rotary year!!
It was a fun meeting and a very fitting end to President Chris’ term. Thank you, President Chris for a wonderful Rotary Year!!
