The latest Updates

DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S VISIT GREAT SUCCESS!! DG Olivia Patterson-Ryans visited WVRC and left everyone feeling proud of the district’s leadership. DG Olivia was accompanied by First Husband, Robert Ryans, Chief of Staff Alex Parajon, and AG Rod Miyata.

DG Olivia updated us on the fight to eradicate polio, the Humanitarian trip to Belize, the Foundation Celebration and, her plans for this year. DG Olivia’s two main business interests this year is to grow membership and support the Rotary Foundation. Her to initiatives are to increase and support the number of bands in the District under Music Mends Minds and, support and assist especially with jobs and mentorships to avoid becoming homeless, those of age youth coming out of Foster Care. Very worthy causes – one for Alzheimer & dementia, the other, prevention of homelessness for youth.

After telling us about her “Rotary Moment” when she helped a homeless woman and realized how homelessness can happen to anyone including someone you know personally and, how important Rotary is helping those less fortunate.

The meeting ended with the DG presenting MacGyver Awards (those who make valuable contributions to the overall operating success of the Club) to PP Diane Good, PP Mark Rogo and, PP Tom Barron. PP Diane Good then presented a beautiful crystal gift to PP Nancy McCready for her leadership as President in 2020 – 2022.

Thank you to Jim Crane for leading the pledge, PP Steve Day for “Thought of the Day” on Friendships and, PP Admiral Ed Gauld singing “God Bless America”.

If you have not seen the beautifully written article on what became of our very own Don Park’s beloved home after his passing, go online to Architectural Digest at https://applenews/AiK7B2_5yTrGR-8-LjWXm4g and read all about it. It is a great story steeped in Family History.

Also, stay tuned soon for a presentation from our wonderful PP Marsha Hunt who has been travelling the Globe promoting Peace. She has wonderful stories to share with all of us.  Safe Travels PP Marsha and, thank you for your Service Above Self.
