IMPACT CLUB, first of its kind in District 5280 spearheaded by Westwood Village Rotary’s President Chris Gaynor. An Impact Club is a companion Club designed to build up our existing Club slowing attrition while building members thru service. On Thursday, Patrick Longano and his wife Katie from the Foothills Rotary Club in North Caroline spoke to us about how to implement an Impact Club and sustain it over time. They provided us with a membership application and troves of social media content. They explained this is a “service-only” Club without a commitment to traditional meetings, speakers, meals, etc. of an existing Rotary Club.
An Impact Club creates and executes its own projects inviting Host Club members to participate. Its members also assist with Host Club projects. Impact members are Rotary members and counted as members of WVRC. There are minimal dues to join and no required meetings to attend. It is a useful tool to recruit new Rotarians who are not interested in the requirements of traditional Rotary. The WVRC Impact Club will be overseen by PP and IP Steve Day. If you have friends or family members interested in participating, please contact Steve.
Westwood Village Rotary Club is the first club in California to have an IMPACT companion Club and, will join the fastest growing movement in Rotary as the leader on the West Coast.
Thank you to PP Mike Newman for leading the pledge, PP Nancy McCready for her thought of the Day, “10 things to remember when times are tough” which was greatly appreciated and, PP Admiral Ed Gauld with his rousing version of “Oh, Suzanna” sans banjo.
October 27, 2022 WVRC will be visiting the Reagan Library. All members and their families and friends are encouraged to attend. Please contact VP Benjamin Fisher if you are interested in attending.
In November the Club is planning a visit to the Peterson Auto Museum private vault. Date and time to be provided soon. If interested, please let VP Benjamin Fisher know ASAP as space is limited.
