A Quick Note

Introducing The Wings — Our School Newsletter

We are excited to introduce The Wings, our new school newsletter designed to help keep our preschool and kindergarten families connected and informed throughout the school year.

The Wings will be sent out on the first Wednesday of each month and will include a message from our teachers, classroom and school updates, important dates and reminders, upcoming events, and other helpful information for our families.

Our hope is that The Wings will be a useful resource for keeping everyone up to date on all that is happening at St. John’s. We are excited to share the wonderful things happening in our school and look forward to keeping our families connected throughout the year!

Important: At the bottom of the email, please be sure to select “View Entire Message” to see the complete newsletter and all of the information included.

It is so nice to, once again, have our classrooms filled with smiles, laughter, and the excitement of a new school year! We are so thankful to welcome back our returning families and are especially excited to welcome our new families & our new kindergarten teacher, Ms. Curtis, to the St. John's Lutheran School family.

As we begin another year together, we look forward to watching our students learn, grow, make new friends, and most importantly, grow in their faith and knowledge of God’s love. Our teachers and staff are excited for all that this new school year will bring, and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with our families in nurturing and encouraging each child.

Whether you have been part of St. John’s for years or this is your very first year with us, welcome! We are blessed to have you here and look forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, faith, friendship, and many special memories.

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” — 3 John 1:4

Welcome back, St. John’s families! We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us this year!

Message From the Teachers

🍎 What We’ve Been Learning!

We’ve had a fun and busy week in our classroom! After doing a taste test of apples in different colors, the class decided that green apples are their favorite! 🍏 This week, each child will bring in an apple from home, and on Friday we will put our apples to good use by making homemade applesauce together. We can’t wait to taste our delicious creation!

We also started our Letter of the Week! We began with the letter S, and over the next three weeks we will explore the letters A, T, and M. We’ll have fun learning the sounds, recognizing the letters, and finding them in words all around us.

Our learning adventures will continue as we explore apples and the color red, followed by an exciting Under the Sea theme and the color blue. 🐠🌊

Looking ahead, on Friday, September 25, we are hoping to take a walk to Waiola Park for some snack time and play. We are looking forward to enjoying some fresh air and outdoor fun together!

I am so excited to be getting our school year into full swing! The kindergarteners are enjoying getting to know one another as well as getting into more academics. We are starting to learn phonemic awareness to help us read, and are starting to learn about our first math chapter - sorting! The kindergarteners are doing so good learning the routines and rules and most importantly, having fun! We can't wait to see what the school year brings us!
