June has finally arrived!
As the warmer weather starts, that means lots of outdoor events, activities, and for many, planning a summer vacation. With these plans in mind, a continuous rising trend we’re seeing is sustainable and eco-friendly travel.
The UN World Tourism Organization
defines sustainable travel as:
“Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social, and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities.”
Sustainable travel encompasses everything from choosing your
destination, the way you get there, what you do there, and how you leave it. Selecting
eco-friendly hotels are a great place to start...and Connecticut is making it's mark in this space.
Hotel Marcel recently made US history by becoming the first
Passive House certified and net-zero energy hotel. Located in New Haven, CT, the hotel opened its doors in April of this year and is sure to be a popular venue for sustainable events with 7,000 square feet of meeting space!
