Know the Code
The City of Margate ensures that our homes and businesses comply with community standards to ensure that our city remains a safe and enjoyable place to live, work, and visit. This section will share various codes and ordinances that are important for all citizens to follow. Please do your part by following these rules to positively impact citywide property values and enhance the community’s image.

Don’t Park on Sidewalks: Be a good neighbor, and don’t park on sidewalks – or any area intended to be used as a sidewalk – whether on public or private property. When you block a sidewalk, you obstruct the pathway for pedestrians, bicyclists, mothers with strollers, and people who rely on motorized vehicles to get around.

Don’t Park Obstructing Passage: It is also a violation to park a vehicle more than 12 inches on a roadway with no curb (raised edge of sidewalk). This improper parallel parking to the road, especially on narrow streets, can obstruct other vehicles passing through.

Don’t Park Here: Please remember not to park on fire lanes, swales with curbs, or “No Parking” zones.
