1-800-639-2065
| |
We are changing our number for the Marketing Department. To text pictures and videos, please text us at 1-800-639-2065. We love receiving content from the staff for our social media.
Last month in The Wire, the Marketing team wrote about the importance of letting us know in advance of any requests for marketing funds to help support a local or regional activity. The process to submit your request is easy – just email us at marketing@gmes.com
You can use the same email to share other activities and projects with us.
With that, we introduce “Coffee Time” – a video marketing newsletter designed to be fun, engaging, and informative.

Seasonal Health Reminder!
In addition to the usual winter colds and flu, we are still deciphering and learning how to manage COVID-19 and its variants, which tend to favor cold weather. The following are some reminders and resources to help you reduce the risk of cold-related illness, injury, and hazards and enjoy a comfortable, healthy winter.
Know and practice preventive basics:
- Keep hands and surfaces clean.
- Don’t touch your nose, mouth, and eyes without your hands being clean.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow, not into your hand.
- Eat a balanced diet.
- Talk to your health practitioner about supplements or other recommendations to boost the immune system.
- Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
- Get plenty of sleep to keep the body’s defenses strong.
- If you feel sick or have a fever, try to stay home to prevent the spread of illness.

The Community feature in Paylocity lets you communicate with other employees who may not have a GMES email, work in another branch, or who work remotely. This is very similar to a social media platform! Stay connected by using Community or for important announcements or attachments from HR or Management.
This feature is similar to Bucketlist where you can share fun and appropriate accomplishments and inspire other employees. This is also Mobile friendly if you have the Paylocity App. You will be able to access announcements or attachments on-the-go!

Do you know where you can access the updated phone list that comes out every month?
Aside from the email notification, you can access the phone list in Paylocity under the Self-Service Portal
| Another location you can find a copy of the updated phone list is on SharePoint. It is located under the Documents Tab. | You can also access a copy by clicking this button below. | |
Customer Service Tip:
Answer the phone cheerfully. Phone experts say customers will hear the positivity and smile in a sales person’s voice.
| | |
Safety Tip:
Move your feet, not your back, when you want to travel or turn while carrying a heavy load.

GMES Safety Update
GMES Safety Update for February 2024:
| |
In the month of February we will be focusing on driver safety. This will include the on-going rollout of our fleet safety tools such as iPads equipped with driver specific software, hands free head sets for making calls, and hands free cell phone mounts for our trucks. We will also be releasing training material this month through Paylocity that covers the Samsara software that is interconnected with the camera systems in our trucks. This training material will cover how drivers can install the Samsara app, how they can perform pre and post trip inspections using the app, and how they can keep track of their personal driver scores, which we will be utilizing to help our drivers get a more in depth view of what their behaviors are while on the road.
Included in the push for driver safety this month we will be focusing on having a “hands free” fleet, including our new hands free slogan “Hands Free Since ‘53”. The hands free push will include training material on hands free driving and distracted driving, and what measures we can take to eliminate both of those from our daily routines. More than 80% of drivers nationwide admit to driving while distracted, this can include mobile device use, eating while driving, zoning out, or just not paying attention. More than 1 million vehicle crashes per year in the United States are caused by distracted driving, and more than 14% of fatal traffic crashes are caused by cell phone use. Here at GMES we want our drivers to be as safe as they can be, which is why we’ve been Hands free since ’53.

The 411 on W-4 Tax Set Up | |
HR has received some questions regarding employee's tax set up. Here are some tips and tricks that may be able to help:
Paylocity's Paycheck Calculator:
You can calculate your paycheck before you get it!
Paylocity's Check Calculator is a complete self-service payroll tool that empowers users to view how a check will look based on the changes made within the tool. Employees can calculate take-home pay for various "what if" scenarios before requesting any changes.
Please Note: This feature is only available on the desktop and NOT in the mobile app.
To access the Check Calculator, go to Self Service portal – Pay widget – More – Check Calculator
| |
Tax Withholding Estimator:
Taxes got you down? If you feel like you were hit with an unexpected return (or lack there of), be sure to use the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator tool to help determine what is the best filing status for you.
Remember: You can update your tax withholdings anytime in Paylocity or by getting in touch with HR and filling out a new W-4 form.
| |
Another helpful tool is this article from Nerd Wallet that explains how to fill out a W-4 form, and the impact it has for employees who owe taxes. It even has a link for a W-4 calculator!
See the button below for the article - definitely worth the read!
| |
Ask a Professional Tax Expert:
When filing your taxes, you should ask your accountant or tax-pro if they can make any suggestions for you as to whether you need to add additional withholdings or make changes to your weekly paychecks, so that you would not need to owe or at least break even when filing next year.
| |
It is that time of year again for performance reviews!
Be on the look out for an email through Paylocity for your self-performance evaluation. Once you have that completed, your Manager/Supervisor will then schedule a date and time with you to discuss your performance from the past year.
| |

Here’s what you can expect:
When logging in to your account on alliedbenefit.com, you will be prompted to “Sign Up” in order to update your account credentials. This process is simple and straightforward. Included below is a flyer that can help walk you through this process.

In February we celebrate Black History Month as a way to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century, to African Americans living in the United States today.
