Westchase District was excited to host KPRC traffic expert and What's Driving Houston reporter Anavid Reyes. Westchase District Vice President of Projects Irma Sanchez met Reyes at the Terry Hershey Trail and then took her to the newly completed two-way bike lane on Deerwood Drive. Say 'Hi' to Officer Wang When You Seem Him on the Trail

From left, Officer Zhen Wang with Westchase District Patrol partner R.K. Broadnax.

Riding an average of 25 miles a day, HPD bike officer Zhen Wang knows the Westchase District area. "It's different than being in a patrol vehicle," said Wang, a nine-year veteran of the Westchase District Patrol. "When you are on a bike you ride past people on the trail and on the streets. It makes my day when people say hello and wave. We love smiles too."

After Wang puts miles on the bike, he is happy that Bike Barn is in the District to service his team's bikes annually. "It's convenient and great place for us to go to keep our bikes ready. The staff know us and provide great service." Read More

Pick Up Something for Mother's Day at the Market

Clockwise from left: Jams and jelly from ABJ Farms, mini cakes from Uptown Bakes, naturally sweet agave from Dr. Lucy's Optimum Wellness Lifestyle Club and Lakonia's fine olive oil all make a great gift for mom.

Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 9. The farmers market has everything you need to get creative with a gift for mom. Give mom a break from the kitchen by treating her to something special. After all, she taught you all of her recipes, including her cooking techniques in the kitchen. So now it's time for you to return the favor with a specially prepared meal.

The market has all of the ingredients you need -- from PEAS Farms' fresh produce to spices, sauces, grass-fed beef and chicken from Erbe Ranch, to fun spirits like wine from Houston Winery. Sweet treats as sweet as mom make a great add-on to flowers and a card. Fill her gift basket with cupcakes and baked goods from exquisite pastry chefs who also cater delicious fare. My Lola Bakery, JJ Sweets Delights and Uptown Bakes will more than satisfy any of mom's and the family's dessert cravings. Is mom into the finest oils and honey? Having Lakonia Imports and Pure Texas Honey products in the kitchen cabinet or on the counter place more high quality ingredients at her finger tips.
