Trailside Park is, as a gradual change in season brings a new fence and spruced up landscaping! 

Pedestrians and bicyclists can explore new plantings of bald cypress trees.  Also, look for compact Texas sage, variegated Dianella, salvia mystic spires, and white trailing lantana. 

Along the new fence, there's galvanized wire in an "X" pattern for planted honey suckle to cling and wrap.  Sod was added to a large mulch area to deal with rainwater run off. 

Suit up in your favorite superhero costume for a fun run. West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM) second annual Spring Dash 5K/1K is on May 9, at 7:30 am, at the Westchase Park & Ride, 11050 Harwin Dr. 

Channel your Wonder Woman, Iron Man or Captain America prowess to help WHAM fight poverty and hunger. You won't need superhuman powers to participate. Instead of battling villains, you can run to make a difference in the lives of others in this timed, fun run/walk. Sponsorships range from $500 to $7,500.

The Spring Dash will feature sponsor booths, a moonwalk, snow cones, face painting, raffle prizes, and more! Council Member Thomas Hosts Two Events in Westchase District

Tiffany D. Thomas, Houston City Council Member, District F will be hosting a Census 2020 Town Hall meeting and Community Input Meeting in Westchase District.

 

CENSUS 2020 TOWN HALL

Council Member Thomas' Census 2020 Town Hall Meeting is tomorrow night, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be at First United Methodist Church (Hinson Chapel) on 10570 Westpark Dr. Invited partners include US Census Bureau, Harris County, Mi Familia Vota, Houston Urban League, Alief Community Association, Alief ISD Family Outreach, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Chinese Community Center, and Nigerian-American Multicultural Council. The town hall is centered on Census 2020 to provide accurate information and to answer any questions that residents may have about the Census. The importance of an accurate count will be a discussion topic.

COMMUNITY INPUT MEETINGS
On March 26, Council Member Thomas will host the first in a series of community meetings to discuss the FY21 budget, proposals for Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and Council District Service Fund (CDSF) projects and gather general community input. 

   
A CIP project is large in scope and cost such as road paving and lane widening. These projects take the City 4-5 years to complete and are funded by the City budget. A CDSF project is an annual fund that each Council District receives to allocate towards projects that are smaller in scope and cost such as vacant lot mowing, sidewalk repair (usually the responsibility of property owners, but constituents can make a request to Council Member Thomas' office to have Council District pay for the repair using CDSF), and speed cushions.

The Community Input Meeting will be held as part of the Super Neighborhood 25 Meeting for Alief/Westchase on Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Robinson Westchase at 3223 Wilcrest Dr.
