Sneed Dog Park Expected to Open January 2021
|
Pup Playground: Work progresses on Sneed Dog Park. Encompassing 1.25 acres,
Sneed Dog Park is the District's first-ever dog park.
|
Westchase District's lunar calendar for 2021 could be called the Year of the Dog. That's because there'll be much 'appaws' from canine companions when the first-ever dog park opens in the District. The 1.25-acre Sneed Dog Park is being built within the playground area at Sneed Elementary School at 9855 Pagewood Lane. This park is being built under an agreement with Alief Independent School District allowing Westchase District to develop and maintain the park, while giving area residents (and their pets) the opportunity to use the park on weekends and after school. The park will be enclosed by a fence. "Area residents with dogs must now travel more than five miles to access the nearest dog park," said Irma Sanchez, Westchase District's vice president of projects. "This park will fill a niche for our community." Sneed Dog Park is expected to open in early January 2021.

Phillips 66 Opens OnCue on Westheimer, New C-Store is Largest in Houston
|
Something for everyone: OnCue's new Phillips 66 site on Westheimer and Blue Willow comes with a wide array of fuel options plus food and drink to satisfy any craving.
|
A major new gas station and convenience store has emerged from the site of the former Kaleidoscope Center on Westheimer Road at Blue Willow Drive. And, it's far from what you'd expect from a c-store.
| |
OnCue is serious about coffee. How serious? You can even get blueberry crumble flavored beans brewed to your cup.
.
| |
OnCue, a leading c-store operator in Oklahoma, arrives in Houston with a prominent presence for motorists driving through Westchase District or exiting the West Sam Houston Tollway. Located at 10612 Westheimer near Phillips 66's corporate headquarters, construction of OnCue's premier Phillips 66® site began almost a year ago. It will be the largest c-store of its kind on Westheimer - one of Texas' most travelled roads - and perhaps in the entire city. Read More

Your Holiday Gift Giving Guide at the Farmers Market
| Tins for the stocking: Inconceivable Coffee Roasters sells tins that come filled in a variety of flavors like Moroccan Mint. |
No matter the time of year, the Westchase District Farmers Market is always a great place to shop. Holiday time makes it even better. Increased foot traffic, which adds to the market atmosphere, is a sure sign that people are finding an outlet for spreading good cheer. The Westchase District Farmers Market is having a banner year. Even amid a rough economic climate caused by the worldwide pandemic, the farmers market topped previous years in vendor participation, foot traffic and revenue.
Farmers Market Manager John Carey attributes the uptick to people feeling more comfortable being outdoors in an open-air setting. "Once they come to the market, they realize we're a place for fresh produce, eggs and bread, as well as discovering authentic, local items," said Carey. "Coming here to shop is an experience." Not sure on what to buy or who sells what? Read our suggestions.
