UNF DCE Adds Four New Courses
New Manager Essentials Graduates
LEARN Jacksonville – Winners! Winners!
Because we at UNF DCE believe partnering with companies in our community will help them achieve long-term success while also enabling employees to attain career advancement, we have added four essential components to our leadership program:

For a business to thrive in today’s economy, it must encourage employees to develop leadership mindsets. Becoming a great leader means not only managing job responsibilities well but also understanding how to conduct oneself as a leader.

Our division already prides itself on two successful leadership courses in the professional development series including New Manager Essentials and Leadership Development . Both of these were designed to help employees enhance their managerial skills, whether utilized in a first-time director role or a mid- to senior-level executive position.

Rusty Bozman, the course instructor and an expert in organizational development, leadership and talent development and strategic human resource management, recently commented,

“The true benefit of developing leaders and managers is, as they get more and more advanced, they are able to help both their organizations and employees balance their needs in order to get the highest performance possible .

“Employees want to have a purpose - they want to work for something bigger than themselves they can buy into. They want to be inspired and grow. They want respect and relative autonomy and self-direction. They want to be effectively led. Left to pursue their own individual goals, organizations and employees often find their respective paths toward these goals to be in conflict in many ways.”

If you would like to develop your or your employees' leadership skills and learn more about each of our invaluable new courses, visit our website at www.unf.edu/ce/pd or give our customer care team a call at 904-620-4200.
Congratulations to Our Latest Graduates of the
New Manager Essentials Certificate Program!

This program taught by Rusty Bozman, an expert in management and organizational development, teaches the best practices in developing and executing the necessary skills of every effective manager.

On a Sad Note...

Herman Cooper, a long-time OLLI member who participated in the Current Events course since OLLI started more than 10 years ago, passed away on June 25th.

Stanley Kantor, Herman’s friend and fellow OLLI member, read an original poem for Herman at his memorial service. Here is an excerpt:

" Go and run with the angels,
And dance around the golden clouds.
For the Lord chose you to be with Him,
And we should feel nothing but proud. "

Welcome To Our Team!

Our UNF DCE team has a new smiling face at our front desk. We are pleased to announce that Kelly Rupinta recently joined our customer care team.

Kelly has a Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Central Florida. She recently moved back to FL from GA where she worked for 2 years as a school secretary at a public middle school after having taken time off to raise her two boys.

We are excited that she is here! So, the next time you stop by our offices, be sure and give her a big "Welcome!"

Hello, Continuing Education Supporters!

The UNF Division of Continuing Education has been active in engaging the Jacksonville community to develop new partnerships and customized training. In the past six months, we have provided training to more than 600 professionals. I am proud to announce that the department of Professional Development is expanding its course offerings to include a Grant Writing Certificate, Learning Design Certificate, Customer Service Certificate, and several leadership workshops in an effort to support northeast Florida’s workforce. Most of these courses are open for enrollment so check them out online or reach out to us for more information.

Looking for financial assistance? You may be surprised to learn that your employer may offer tuition reimbursement; all you have to do is ask. We have experience with this arrangement and are happy to provide you with the required documentation. Further, payment plans are available on select programs and most of the certificate programs are approved for GI Bill benefits and MyCAA funding.

We hope to see you in one of our upcoming courses or information sessions!
