This Sunday @ VBC
This Sunday is Graduate Recognition Sunday, and we're excited to celebrate all of our high school and college graduates! All graduates should bring their graduation regalia and plan to meet Whitney in the church library no later than 10:00 AM. This week's message is "Led by the Spirit," and the scripture is Acts 1:6-8, 2:1-8.
Prior to morning worship, we will have Sunday School at 9:15 AM, as usual. If you are not yet plugged into a Sunday School class, please let us help you find one to attend. You can click here for our updated Sunday School brochure. All high school and college graduates, as well as other young adults between 18 and 28, are welcome to attend our Young Adult Small Group at RND Coffee beginning at 9 AM; we will dismiss around 9:45 AM this Sunday so that our graduates can get to the church library by 10 AM.
If you can't join us in the sanctuary for worship, please do so through livestream at www.vintonbaptistchurch.org or through our Facebook page.

Graduate Info Needed
Even if your graduate cannot attend worship this Sunday, we would still like to have their information in order to recognize them in next week's issue of The Witness. Please call the church office at 540-343-7685 or email kim@vintonbaptistchurch.org to let us know your graduate's name, school, any special honors, type of degree, and any future plans.

Senior Bibles
Bibles for our high school seniors are available in the Welcome Center for you to write notes of affirmation and/or highlight your favorite verses. This is a beautiful tradition at Vinton Baptist Church, and it provides a wonderful keepsake for our graduates. Please plan time in your schedule to stop by the Welcome Center during office hours (9 AM - 5 PM weekdays) this week to write your notes of encouragement and blessing for our graduating high school students, as these Bibles will be awarded to them this Sunday morning.
| All WBHS graduates and their families are invited to attend Baccalaureate this Sunday evening: | |

Associational Missions Offering
You will find in your box of giving envelopes an envelope dated for May that is marked for Associational Missions Offering (aka Annie Mae Broyles Offering for Associational Missions). There are also envelopes in the hymnal pew pockets in the sanctuary. Annie Mae Broyles was the first Missionary Director of the first Baptist Mission Center operated by the Roanoke Valley Baptist Association. All Associational Missions Offerings are utilized for local ministries, including Friendship House, Keystone Community Center, Solomon's Mission, Christian Soldiers Food Pantry, and RVBA Mission Requests. Our church goal for this offering is $2,200. Please consider giving to help folks in our own backyard.
| | Please join us in offering a warm welcome to Sue & Sandy Wells, who joined Vinton Baptist Church by letter this past Sunday, May 11th. Sue & Sandy have been attending virtually for some time. Their address is 2420 Feather Garden Circle, Vinton VA 24179. Please extend your welcome to them! | | | |

Have you been feeling led to do some volunteer work but don't know where to start? Will you have extra time in your schedule when school lets out? Volunteers are needed at the Meals on Wheels site here at Vinton Baptist Church for two hours 1-2 days per month. The slots available are the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, and the 4th Wednesday of each month. We also need on-call substitutes. For more details and the volunteer application, please click here.

Bible Reading Plan
This week I am going to refer you to Right Now Media for a short video explaining the basics of Deuteronomy and suggesting some of its implications in the overarching story of God's Kingdom. If you don't have a Right Now Media account, don't worry - it's free! Just click here first to sign up with a username and password when prompted. Once you've taken a look at this particular video, you can also search using the key word "Deuteronomy" (or any other topic you choose) to find other resources that may be of help. Happy reading!

Due to vacation schedules, The Witness will NOT be published on June 4th.
If you are interested in an occasional volunteer opportunity and are comfortable answering phones and greeting people, we would love to have you volunteer in the church office to cover for staff meetings and/or vacations. We keep a list of potential volunteers, and each month we send them notifications of the dates and times that we need help. Those that can help will sign up for a specific slot, and those who cannot help are never obligated to do so. If we could add you to our list (or if you'd just like to find out more about what's involved), give us a call in the church office at 540-343-7685 or email kim@vintonbaptistchurch.org. As the summer is approaching, we would like to have some extra volunteers available in case our usual volunteers are on vacation or otherwise unavailable. Thank you!
