The Witness
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape! But you, beloved, are not in darkness, for that day to surprise you like a thief; for you are all children of light and children of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness.  So then let us not fall asleep as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober; for those who sleep sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.

Announcements
Notice of time change for Sunday School. In order to accommodate those attending church we will start class at 9:10AM on Zoom, we will be online at 9:05AM. Please join us as we learn from the experts and from each other.
The Outreach Committee has modified the implementation of Caring Tree in 2020!
We hope EPC congregational members will participate as you are able, and we thank each of you for your continued faithfulness to this Outreach Ministry.
Mountain View Personal Care Home
Sally McMillan has names of residents and clothing requests with a description and size for each of the 17 adult residents. If you want to want to shop for a resident please contact Sally McMillan: 404-713-2515 (cell) or 770-979-9986 (home) and let her know you are willing to shop on-line (examples: Wal-Mart, Amazon, Blair) or in stores. She will give you a name and specific clothing request. Please wrap and tag the gifts and call Sally to make arrangements for pick up or delivery to church. Gifts should be ready by December 7th. All the gifts will be delivered to the Mountain View Personal Care Home by the McMillans. Staff will distribute the gifts to residents.
Elementary School Children (15 families in need)
Brockett, Stone Mountain, and Smoke Rise Elementary School counselors have been contacted by Mary Ann Howard. The Outreach Committee is requesting monetary donations for Caring Tree to purchase Wal-Mart gift cards in several denominations that will be given to each of the 3 school counselors. Based on past years, we estimate $50 would purchase a school outfit/jacket and toy. In 2019, family size varied from 3-5 children, and we delivered bags with presents for 50 children to 14 families. The goal we set is for donations of $2,500 to provide gift cards for 50 children. Donations can be made to EPC with the notation for Caring Tree and should be received by December 2nd.The school counselors will identify up to 5 families in each school and inform us of the number of children in each family. Gift cards will be delivered to the counselors the second week in December for distribution to the parents.
We will no doubt miss the joy of shopping, wrapping gifts and delivering them to homes this year. However, parents will have the joy of providing the gifts for their family.

Our PWs enjoyed a wonderful zoom gathering on November 7 to dedicate our yearly Thank Offering. Zeema Regis shared with us how to take care of ourselves and our community spiritually during these difficult times. The Thank Offering was started as a tangible way to show gratitude for the many blessings in our lives. Health related ministries make up a significant percentage of the programs that were funded this year. Offerings can still be sent in to the church.
Dear Eastminster,
As you know we've had to cancel our long standing tradition of welcoming international students into our homes for Thanksgiving day celebrations. Instead, we are organizing two outdoor Thanksgiving gatherings near Emory and Georgia Tech where international students can gather with volunteers for a pre-plated traditional turkey meal from local chef, Calvin Rouse. This event will be on Saturday, November 21 from 1-3 pm

We understand that not everyone is comfortable with outdoor group gatherings during a pandemic, and we understand if this is not for you. However, if you are able, we welcome you to join us. You may sign up using this form here.

If you come, please be prepared to be outdoors during the event. We will encourage social distancing and wear masks, except when eating. Directions and parking instructions will be emailed to you after you sign up. The meals will be free for students, and we are requesting $15 for volunteer meals.
If you are not able to join, would you consider making a donation toward the student meals. Support our hospitality by making a gift towards student turkey meals.
$15 for 1 meal
 $30 for 2 meals
Even a small gift will help!

Peace and Blessings,

Rev. Irene Wong
