CONGRATULATIONS 2019 GRANT RECIPIENTS!
The Women's Fund 10th Annual Event announcing the 2019-2020 grantees was held on October 28 at City Hall in Redding, an evening that delivered information and inspiration. With so many worthy nonprofits applying for funding this year, it was a difficult choice for our Grants Panel. Thank you, members, for your input in our Grant Focus Area and for your contribution! Our granting is only made possible by members like you. Thank you for standing with us in our mission to enhance the quality of life in the Greater Redding area. It is an honor to announce our 2019 grant recipients:

Marie Patterson, Chico State Enterprises Foundation
Trisha Funk and Nancy Swift, Jefferson Economic Development Institute
In addition, the winner of the Members' Choice Bonus Award was announced. The Members' Choice Bonus Award program allows members to directly participate and vote on additional funding to help one of the previous year’s grantees continue its service to our community. This year’s Member’s Choice Bonus Award, a $3,000 grant voted on by the membership, was presented to California Heritage YouthBuild Academy (CHYBA) . CHYBA will use the additional funding to provide students financial assistance with training and/or tool costs required for certain job positions. Furthermore, last year's other two grantees, Empire Recovery Center and Pennies on Purpose , each received $1,000.

Congratulations to all of our grant recipients! We are so proud to help support these organizations and of their impact in our community!

Grantee Spotlight: Empire Recovery Center
Our Grant in Action!
In 2018, we provided funding to Empire Recovery Center for tuition and educational assistance for women interns working to become drug and alcohol counselors. Previously, Empire had only one "Advocate" (counselor) handling between 20 to 30 cases.
Thanks to The Women's Fund grant, Empire now has SEVEN interns able to take the online classes to get their drug and alcohol counselor certifications! Advocates provide outreach and counseling to clients. They help clients and their families better understand addiction. They teach them that addiction is a disease, help their clients stay clean, and provide them with different tools to manage drug cravings and avoid relapse.

... Together we can do SO MUCH!
Watch this space in each newsletter! Throughout our first decade anniversary year The Women’s Fund will continue to highlight the many successful organizations who are lifting our communities and thriving with help from The Women’s Fund grants.
