Commandant's Message Marines and Associates M arines, don't miss the important meeting to vote for Detachment Officers on Monday October 21st. As winter approaches we will be taking the docks out on Sunday November 3rd. Please come down and give us a hand. The Marine Corps Birthday Ball will be on Saturday November 9th. tickets will be available soon. The Marines Corps birthday will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2019. The Marine Corps turns 244 years old. We will celebrate with cake and and a bite downstairs starting at 1400. Veterans Day will be on the following Monday and we will need all hands on deck to participate in Worcester's Parade, and ceremony at the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Marine Corps League DUES A s you may or may not be aware, MCL National no longer sends out annual dues reminders. Dues are due by September 1st every year. If you are not current with the MCL, please come in and see bartenders or mail check for $30 to the attention of Paymaster or Steven Cheney, Sr. Please include your Membership number. Marine Members  Monthly Meeting Monday October 21st at 1900 Lt Powers Hall. (Meetings are always the 3rd Monday of the Month) E-Board Meeting Thursday November 7th at 1730

Scholarship Purpose, Eligibility, and Requirements Purpose To grant scholarships to qualified applicants who are pursuing full time undergraduate or technical training at a recognized institution. Eligible Sponsors Members in good standing of Marine Corps League Worcester Detachment 144. Sponsors must be active and attend a minimum of four monthly meetings of the Worcester Detachment 144 in scholarship award year. Eligible Recipients Member, spouses, children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren of the sponsor. The sponsor’s stepchildren are also eligible.  Requirements Applications will only be dispensed to sponsors attending a Worcester Detachment 144 monthly meeting. Completed applications must be returned by September 1st. If selected you must provide proof of enrollment (Verification Form) from you or your school and returned by November 15th. Awards $200 annually for a maximum of four years. Years need not be consecutive years. Checks are usually mailed in mid December.
