The Parish Lunch Schedule
April 28 - Reception in Honor of the Rev. W. Bruce McPherson (Togo West Parlor)

May 5 - Greeters

May 12 - No Parish Lunch (Mother's Day)

May 19 - Church School
If you have not participated in the past, please begin a new tradition of your own and plan to come to our Parish lunches at 12:15 p.m., after the 11:00 a.m. service. It is one of the best fellowship opportunities at St. John's and a way to meet new friends, both members and guests, and to catch up with old friends. Volunteers are needed to help with the May 5 lunch.

To sign up or ask questions, contact Holly Sukenik, the lunch coordinator or the Parish Office at 202-347-8766.
Reducing Plastic Packaging
Most plastics are designed to have a long life, an advantage in one sense but a major disadvantage in another. Instead of zip lock bags for our sandwiches, for example, we can use waxed paper or cloth sacks for snacks. Instead of cling film for leftovers, we can store them in reusable containers with snap-on lids. Simple things add up. Black carryout coffee lids are usually tossed in the trash, and in the landfills where they end up, they will outlive us by several hundred years or more. We can all stop using plastic lids on our carryout coffee (in paper cups, of course). Better yet, we can bring our own cups. To help with the effort to end the use of plastic, St. John's has produced reusable tote bags with the St. John's logo. Please contact the Parish Office (202-347-8766) or speak to a Greeter on Sunday morning to pick up a bag for your use.
