Men do not fight for flag or country, for the Marine Corps or glory or any other abstraction. They fight for one another. And if you came through this ordeal, you would age with dignity.

Commandants Message
Marines and Associates,

F irst and foremost I would like to thank all of our volunteers and staff for doing such a great job in making this years bash a monumental success. I really do appreciate every one of you from those in the parking lot and front gate to those serving food. I would like to especially thank Phil Tierney for all his help in food prep and organization. Rocky and John Dansereau for cooking once again. Then of course an extra special Thanks to Gina Laconte who booked the bands, arranged the bands, got food donated, cooked sides and volunteered on the day of the bash. I can't list everyone here who absolutely went above and beyond the call I really do appreciate each and every one of you. All the staff worked extra time past their scheduled shift doubled and in some cases tripled up on the bar to make for a pleasant experience for our clientele.

We have started in on bands every Saturday and Sunday funday as well. Come on down and enjoy your club.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the cleaning for the next few weeks.

From Marine to (role) model: Wounded warrior strikes a pose to benefit fellow veterans

By:  Andrea Scott
Military Times
I t was June 2012 when the  CH-53D helicopter  that Marine door gunner and airframes mechanic Sgt. Kirstie Ennis  was flying in went down in Afghanistan’s Helmand province.
The 21-year-old was on her second Afghanistan deployment. She suffered severe trauma, especially to her brain, spine, neck, shoulder, face and left leg, which after some 40 surgeries was amputated below the knee three years later. A month after that, it was amputated above the knee.
“The first thing I thought about wasn’t ‘Am I going to be able to run again?’ It was, ‘Can I wear a dress?’” Ennis told Military Times. “Am I going to be able to wear heels? Are people going to look at me differently? Am I still going to be attractive?”

As war remains return home, advocates ask families for help with identification process
By:  Leo Shane III
Military Times

WASHINGTON — With the r emains of dozens of Korean War troops  set to return to the United States on Wednesday,  military advocates  are urging family members of missing service members to enroll in the Defense Department’s DNA database to help with identification of the fallen heroes.
Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency officials have said they don’t have DNA files for about 9 percent of the nearly 7,700 U.S. troops missing in action from the Korean War.
As new remains are  turned over from North Korea in coming years , advocates worry that some may not be able to be identified without additional help from military families.

Millions more vets to be able to shop at exchanges online
Honorably discharged veterans could be able to shop online at military exchange websites as early as Veterans Day, barring any objections from Congress.
The change in Defense Department policy would open up online exchange shopping privileges to about 18 million more people. It won’t apply to shopping at brick-and-mortar exchange stores.
