On Saturday, November 8th 2025, the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) hosted the inaugural Gindroz Symposium on Affordable Housing. The half-day symposium brought together past recipients of the Gindroz Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing at the ICAA’s national headquarters in New York City and culminated in the presentation of the 2025 Gindroz Award to Nansledan, a 540-acre extension to the city of Newquay on the north coast of Cornwall.
The program included a discussion with representatives from the Duchy of Cornwall, Cornwall Council, the King's Foundation, and ADAM Architecture on the development and implementation of Nansledan; presentations from past Award recipients the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara and Union Studio; and a panel discussion on the future of affordable housing design.

On Wednesday, September 24th, the ICAA and the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation welcomed Jennifer Carlquist, Robert Leath, and Patricia Lowe Smith for Elevating Stewardship: Restoring and Reviving Iconic House Museums in a discussion moderated by Benjamin Prosky, President of the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation.
The restoration of a historic house is seemingly never complete. The stewards of these properties may have well researched maintenance plans, but they also must always expect the unexpected. In the case of house museums, the ongoing restoration process should be used as an opportunity to teach – inviting curators, craftspeople, design professionals, students of preservation and the general public to better understand the skill and care that goes into reviving a historic property.
This panel convened a group of experienced museum professionals who oversee critical and complicated restorations at several extraordinary properties, including the re-installation of original wood paneling, returned to the Cupola House in Edenton, North Carolina after a century in the Brooklyn Museum collection; the careful research and documentation needed to prepare for the restoration of an exquisite ceiling at Drayton Hall located outside of Charleston, South Carolina; and the miraculous recovery of Boscobel in Cold Spring, New York, after a devastating ceiling collapse has led to an ambitious restoration and given an opportunity to reinterpret the interiors.

| | CLASSICISM FOR OUR COMMUNITY: WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT | | |
At the ICAA, we believe that classical design is profoundly human. Rooted in beauty, proportion, and harmony, classicism is a living tradition that continues to shape our communities in meaningful and necessary ways.
As a nonprofit organization, the ICAA relies on your generosity to reach more students from diverse backgrounds across the globe and provide them with the guidance they need to learn, design, and lead with purpose. In this season of giving, we are counting on our community to come together to allow classicism to flourish, carrying forward its spirit of connection and ensuring its relevance for generations to come.
Thanks to the generosity of our Board of Directors, every gift to this year’s End of Year Campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling your impact. To ensure your contribution counts towards this match and makes the greatest difference, please make your gift by December 19th.
We need your support now more than ever – for our students, for our mission, for our shared future. Your gift will make a lasting impact here at the ICAA, helping us to ensure that classical design will continue to inspire, enrich, and shape lives for generations to come.

On September 17, 2025, the ICAA was proud to welcome Atelier Louis Del Boca for a presentation on the history and evolution of plaster craftsmanship—from its classical roots in grand historic interiors to its continued relevance in today’s most refined architectural and design projects.
The presentation examines the history of plaster mastery, tracing its development across centuries and its role in shaping architectural language. As a premier French atelier, Del Boca offers an inside look at the traditional techniques and materials that define the craft, with a focus on the handwork and precision behind each surface. Illustrating how this heritage skill continues to elevate both classical and modern spaces, the program looks behind the scenes at a showcase of French projects including celebrated recent restorations at Versailles and the Hôtel de la Marine, as well as new work for LVMH boutiques and the Hôtel George V.
