This Sunday at Wydown United Church

March 1, 2026

The Second Sunday in Lent

Worship with us at 10 AM, on site in our sanctuary or live on facebook or YouTube.

Scripture: Luke 6:17-39

Reflection: Rev. Mia White

Our worship theme for Lent is “The Work of Imagination,” which will guide us through Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, and encourage us to confront the pain of the world, embody faithful resistance, and participate in the holy labor of communal transformation. The theme will shape our worship liturgy, and each service will feature a character narrative framed as a fictional podcast. Our host will interview a different character each week, inspired by our scripture.

Mill Creek Exhibit Tour

This Sunday, March 12, 2:00 PM

All are invited to join members of the WUC Racial Justice Group for a docent-led tour of the Mill Creek exhibit at the Missouri History Museum. The exhibit explores Mill Creek as a black metropolis, the Harlem of St. Louis, all that made it special, and its untimely destruction for urban development. Your participation in racial justice is important! Those wishing to participate should meet at the museum at 1:45 on Sunday.

Mill Creek Exhibit Discussion

Sunday March 8 after Worship

If you attend the March 1 tour of the Mill Creek exhibit, don’t miss the discussion led by members of the Racial Justice Group immediately after the Sunday worship service on March 8. If you are unable to attend with the group, we invite you to find another time to visit and join us for the discussion.

Join our Sunday Volunteer Team!

Each Sunday volunteers help make worship and hospitality possible by serving as ushers, scripture readers, announcement readers, and coffee hour hosts. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to share your gifts, deepen your connection to our community, or try something new, this is a wonderful place to start.  Click the button below to sign up and contact Hannah Rice if you have any questions.

Lenten Meditations

This Lenten season we will provide a weekly meditation inspired by the book

Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics

by Mirabai Starr. You may pick up a hard copy of the meditation in the Tower Room each Sunday during Lent or access them via the links below. We have 6 copies of the book Wild Mercy for those inclined to do an in-depth study, but you won’t need the

book to do the meditations.
