YMCA of York and York County

Living Our Cause

Psalm 94:19 – When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

These are certainly anxious times and I hope that you find comfort in the words of the Psalmist above. We are also hopeful that you find comfort that your YMCA is there for our community and has been there since 1855. In those years we have experienced some challenging times but we have always persisted and endured. How? Great community leadership and support that stuck with the YMCA during those challenges. We need you now to Stick with the Y!

Your Membership and Response to COVID-19

Your membership fee is an opportunity for you to “live the YMCA cause.” Many in the YMCA family need financial support to get through this unprecedented crisis. Right now, you can make sure that…

…essential operations continue while we’re closed so that we’re ready to serve you and the community when we reopen

…your fellow members receive support from the Y’s online resources and essential staff

…people in need in our community access life-changing charitable programs, such as Southern Community Services, the New American Welcome Center, and the Men’s Residence

Y Work Goes On

We are continuing our charitable work during this challenging time so that no one slips through the cracks and we all emerge stronger than ever. Because of generous individuals like you…

…families worried about making ends meet working with Southern Community Services have food on the table and roofs over heads

…newcomers to the area find the resources and connections they need to thrive by working with YMCA staff in our New American Welcome Center

…over 100 men avoid homelessness and work towards self-sufficiency while living in our Men’s Residence

Stay with Us – “Stick with the Y”

When facing such seemingly insurmountable problems, it may seem like membership fees won’t make a big difference, but, when combined with your fellow members, it allows the YMCA to continue to be there for our community despite the odds.

Thank you for being there for us when we need it the most. There’s no way we can ever truly repay you for all you’ve done for the Y by simply being part of our family! We look forward to seeing you all back at the Y!

With Deepest Appreciation,
Larry M. Richardson
