Women's Day - What a Success!
|
Lauren Jackson, YWCA Homeless Women's Advocate, coordinated Women's Day at HOPE Connections where the YWCA provides counseling and advocacy services for homeless women. Around 35 women attended the event along with many volunteers and HOPE staff. Services provided for the women included hair cuts and styling, manicures, medical screenings, self-defense and yoga classes, breakfast and lunch, as well as clothing, personal care items and lots of other goodies for them. All services and items were donated by many groups, individuals, churches and businesses including Setting the Standard Barbering Academy, Time Well Spent, St. Luke's Mobile Medical, MLK Health Center, Aspire Yoga and NW La. Criminal Justice Academy. A big thank you to everyone who assisted in making the women at HOPE feel very special and empowered!
