2021 International Building Code Update

Eager states and municipalities are looking to adopt mass timber provisions in the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) in order for taller mass timber buildings to be allowed in their jurisdictions. Oregon, Utah, Washington, California, Idaho, Georgia and the city of Denver are either close to finalizing this process or have already done so.

Oregon Statewide Alternate Methods (SAM) added an amendment addressing seismic design coefficients and factors so that they could adopt these provisions quicker.
