Archives uses technology to preserve historic blueprints



In recent years, the Ottawa Jewish Archives has undertaken a significant endeavour to digitize their entire collection. Spearheaded by Teigan Goldsmith, the archivist, this project aims to protect the historic value of these documents from wear and tear or other elements that may threaten the physical collection.

Voices: A story of love letters, wedding photos and remembering D-Day


In early June, in honour of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, community member Joe Silverman and his sister Rosalind Henning, traveled to the Juno Beach Centre in France for the anniversary of D-Day and the official opening of a permanent new exhibit called, “Faces of Canada Today."

Voices: A reminder to stop, pause and honour those we have lost


In Rome's Jewish ghetto, Jodi Green, learned about the little brass markers that have replaced stone cobblestones to form the largest decentralized monument to the Holocaust in the world. There are more than 70,000 pieces in the collection and there are many more - millions more - that could be added. These are the “Stumbling Stones” or “Stolpersteine” in German.

Voices: How an internship with Federation has enriched my Jewish life


For the summer, Jordan Gregory aimed to find a role where she could have a tangible impact on the community and an opportunity at the Federation seemed like the perfect fit. "On my first day as the Social Media and Advocacy Intern, I dove into researching national antisemitism, attended a CTV interview, and developed a new digital strategy for our Instagram page."
