ROE staff attends 2026 ICEARY Conference

Last week, our Student Services Department participated in the Illinois Coalition for At-Risk Youth (ICEARY) Conference, presenting alongside Kane County Circuit Judge Sandra Parga, Assistant State's Attorney Jessica Michels and U-46 DREAM Academy educators. The session, "Bridges, Not Barriers" provided an overview of the strong and collaborative relationship between Kane County Juvenile Court, the Regional Office of Education and our school districts in changing the lives of court-involved youth.

In addition, Kari Glenn, Community Intervention Specialist at the ROE and ICEARY president, led the 2026 Outstanding Student Awards ceremony, celebrating the resilience and academic progress of 22 inspiring students.

This role ensures that all students residing in the Kane County JJC, regardless of their circumstances or projected time in custody, have access to a consistent high-quality education.


Regional Homeless Liaison

This role provides support and services to school districts and students experiencing homelessness in all aspects of the McKinney Vento Act and the Illinois Education for Homeless Children Act.

School staff members and emergency response personnel from across Kane County are invited to participate in our reunification training sessions this summer. Originally designed by the I Love U Guys Foundation, this training equips participants to navigate crisis situations where students may need to be relocated to off-campus sites, and how to effectively reunite those students with family members.

 

Both sessions (one in the morning and one in the afternoon) are FREE to attend! They will both cover the same content, so attendees only need to register for one of the two sessions.
