The eEagle
Dear Friends,

I want to urge all of you to pray for peace in this country as we approach the Inauguration on January 20th. Let us remember who we are as followers of Christ and strive to respect the dignity of every human being. I have written a litany of prayers. Please join me in reading them once a day until the transition of government. We must hold fast to the peace that passes all understanding and try to model calm resolve during this time.

On Wednesday, January 20th, the Cathedral will be open for pilgrims who want to pray in silence and light a candle from 10 a.m. until noon. All in the city are welcome to enter and pray.

May God bless you and stay safe.
In Christ’s love,
Kate+
Inquirer's Series Starts this Sunday
Beginning this Sunday, January 17th, we will be offering an Inquirer's Class for people who are interested in why we do what we do in the Episcopal Church...how we read the Bible, what our prayer book is all about, our sacraments, spiritual growth and how to practice our faith in the world.  If you are interested in being confirmed into the Episcopal Church, this class will be considered preparation for confirmation. And if you just want a refresher on what the Episcopal Church and St. John's Cathedral are all about and have to offer, this would be a great class for you.

Our Senior Associate the Rev. Dr. Bob Dannals and Owene Courtney, Director of Formation and Spirituality are going to teach the class. It will be offered by zoom on Sundays from 11:30 - 12:30 beginning on January 17th and ending on February 14th.

Below is a list of the various subjects for the classes.
1. What about the Bible, how do we read it?
2. What about The Book of Common Prayer and our Beliefs?
3. What about the Episcopal Church and the Sacraments — Who are we?
4. What about Spiritual Growth and Christian Disciplines, like Prayer?
5. What about Discipleship and Practicing My Faith in the World?

The zoom link is below and is also available on the Cathedral website, so you will be able to link in to join.

If you have any questions about the class or would like to add your name to the list, please contact Owene Courtney at owene_courtney@yahoo.com

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on Sunday!
