Student Appreciation Day

An annual tradition of the Technical Career Center, Student Appreciation Day was held on Thursday, April 26, featuring a recognition ceremony, cookout and fun activities for both the morning and afternoon sessions.

Honors students were recognized for being offered up to 36 free credit hours at Three Rivers College; students with perfect attendance were given monetary rewards; and Missouri SkillsUSA winners were acknowledged.

Each program had a chance to name their outstanding student of the year for going above and beyond to be leaders in the classroom. Some instructors chose multiple students, while others opted not to participate as to not exclude anyone.

HVAC instructor Ron Hedrick grilled hotdogs and students participated in various activities with their teachers including sports, video games and cards.

Students tour largest aerospace company

The PBHS AP physics class and Robotics Club recently toured St. Louis-based Boeing, the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners, defense, space and security systems.

Students visited the museum and engineering lab where they experienced virtual reality, a flight simulator, 3D printers, small robots and a music program. Several students agreed it was the best field trip they had ever been on, according to chaperone Kathy Miller, who noted that internship opportunities are available at Boeing.

"I was proud of how the students conducted themselves and asked intelligent questions," said Miller, who also teaches physical science and forensics. "They were well-behaved and wonderful representatives of our school."
