Too busy for PTA?
Think again.

If you haven't joined PTA yet, it's not too late. If you're dragging your heels because you're already over-committed, rest assured, PTA is only as involved as you want it to be. Just because you join doesn't mean you'll be drafted onto a committee. PTA is welcoming to everyone - busy, working parents and volunteers of all levels. Join us at the first General PTA meeting on Sept. 24 before Open House at 5:30 p.m.

Texas PTA is the No. 1 lobbying organization for education finance reform.There is strength in numbers, and ours are lagging. In previous years, we have been recognized for our parental and faculty participation, so let's keep it up.

If you haven't already done so, visit the BIG FORM and give to the Underwriting campaign to save us all from wrapping paper, chocolate, cookie sales. 100% of underwriting dollars remain at CSA. No amount is too small, and every dollar makes an impact!

Parent U: Tackling the tough subjects

Don’t miss the annual Parent U: Planning for the Future on Saturday, September 28.

This half-day conference style event features over 40 presentations for parents of middle and high school students on a variety of topics ranging from post-secondary readiness, to social media safety, human trafficking and more. Your student is welcome and encouraged to attend, too.

CSA Directory Information

Don't forget to order your CSA directory. Cornerstone is using Membership Toolkit for the 2019-2020 CSA Directory. In order for our CSA community to stay connected, we encourage all families to participate in sharing their information.  

Here's what you need to do to access the CSA Directory: 

  • Go to the Membership Toolkit website
  • Click on the Register/Login button.
  • If you already have an account with another organization that uses Membership Toolkit you can use the same email and password to login. You can then proceed to the numbered steps below.
  1. Select "Create Account" and fill in the name, email, and password information.
  2. Click "verify my email" and then check your email for a link to complete the process. The link expires in 2 hours. If you do not receive the email, check your spam or junk folders.
  3. Once you have verified your email address, log back in and finish the registration process. 
  4. Complete the Parent/Family and Student Information.
  5. Complete the Directory/Publish Preferences.

Once the Primary Account is set up, the Primary User can "invite" other email addresses to access his/her account. This allows the Secondary User to have their own login information, but still have access to the family account.

Big news about Box Tops!

The beloved pink Box Tops you’ve been dutifully clipping for years is going digital! The new Box Tops app means it is easier than ever to raise money for CSA. Continue buying Box Tops products, download the app from the App Store or Google Play, then scan your receipt within 14 days of purchase. 

Every qualifying product from your purchase will result in a rebate that is automatically sent to CSA! This video shows the step-by-step process to install and use the app.

And right now, Box Tops is having a sweepstakes to double the amount of money CSA receives AND win a $20,000 make-over for CSA (not that our beautiful new school needs it. Until the printed Box Tops are completely phased out, please continue to clip and collect Box Tops and send them to school with your student. Bright pink donation boxes are in the front office and each classroom.

Odyssey of the Mind Information Meetings

Houston Area Odyssey of the Mind will hold two information meetings for parents, students and teachers who are interested in learning more about the program. Sessions will be held:
  • Thursday, Sept. 19, 7-8:30 p.m., River Oaks Elementary
  • Tuesday, Oct. 1, 5-6:30 p.m., Spring ISD Transportation Center, 341 E. Richey Road, Spring, Texas

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program for students kindergarten through college. The Houston area has more than 1,000 teams. Teams meet to work on creative solutions to various criteria involving may STEM related objectives. These teams present their skills at competition. Winners advance to compete at the state, national and international levels against 800 teams from 20 different countries.

Stratford Playhouse tickets go on sale 9/9

Tickets for the Stratford Playhouse’s first show of the season, "Peter and the Starcatcher, the Grown-Up Prequel to Peter Pan," go on sale Monday, September 9th at 9 a.m. The show runs Oct. 17-26.

Start Your Parent Volunteer Hours in the Library

The library is a great place to earn your volunteer hours. 

Parents volunteers help with a variety of tasks such as checking books in and out, shelving and straightening books and magazines, sanitizing furniture and electronics, decorating and more.

Visit the library volunteer website, add your email, and then select dates and times you want to volunteer. You will be sent an email reminder for the times and dates you select.
