💡 Tax tip of the month
We're doing our part to eliminate common tax myths
At the SCDOR, we hear about incorrect tax myths often. But you should know - we're committed to dispelling these myths so that South Carolinians can know the truth about their tax responsibilities.

That's why we plan to spend the next several months busting common tax myths here in ReveNews, on our social media channels, and on our website, dor.sc.gov.

Our first tax myth... I don't have to file an Income Tax return.

Here's the truth: South Carolina residents are generally required to file a South Carolina Income Tax return if they are required to file a federal return. Nonresidents and part-year residents are generally required to file a South Carolina return if they work in South Carolina or are receiving income from rental property, businesses, or other investments in South Carolina.
