The fresh ART May Have Dried, but
There's More Art This Week at BCM
Thanks for Making fresh ART 2019 a Success!
Several hundred art lovers enjoyed a picture perfect evening dining on fresh fare and bidding on fresh art in Devou Park on September 14 at the 27th annual fresh ART presented by Behringer-Crawford Museum.

The event was the capstone of a weekend which saw 24 local artists working en plein air in the park, creating artwork which was auctioned “fresh” at the event.

Previously completed works by more than four dozen other artists were sold at a silent auction, with proceeds from both auctions benefiting local youth through the museum’s education programs.

Judges Gilda Horn, Julia Sebastian and Bill Seitz selected three of the artists for the Patricia and William Applegarth Artists Excellence Awards. Winners were Barbara Ahlbrand, Highland Heights, first place; Suzanna Terrill, Covington, second; and Tom Gaither, Fort Mitchell, third.

Iris Sullivan, a Holy Cross High School student was awarded $50 and a check for $500 for her school's art programs as the winner of the first Connie O’Donnell Student ART Invitational.

Thank you to all that attended, including John Lomax, emcee for the evening and auctioneer, H. David Wallace of Wallace Boggs, PLLC .

Brown Bag Luncheon:
The Siege of Northern Kentucky
Thursday, Sept. 19, noon
When the Confederacy closed in, the river cities came together. Join us Thursday, Sept. 19 for BCM's next Brown Bag Lunch  for a showing and discussion of the documentary film, " September Siege - The Defense of the River Cities " The film follows the fascinating day-by-day account of the events in September 1862 when Confederate forces came to the doorstep of Cincinnati/NKY.

The film will tell the stories of ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things under the leadership of Major General Lew Wallace and the determined citizens of the region, and shine a light on how cities on both sides of the river came together as one to stare down the enemy and thwart a Confederate invasion that not only saved Cincinnati but perhaps saved the Union.

The lunch and lecture will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the BCM Education Center. Bring your own brown bag lunch. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Cost: $3 for BCM members; $10 for future BCM members. Free parking. Reservations recommended: (859) 491-4003. Free parking.
