It’s the end of the year again. We had an amazing run in 2019 at Business Career College, all thanks to you, our students, and corporate partners. We want to thank you for your trust in us, for believing in our mission, and the value education brings to our community.

We want to wish you a very happy holiday season, no matter how you celebrate it. We hope you will share a little bit of your good fortune with those who have less.

Giving Back for the Holidays

December has always been the month where we take stock of our performance and allocate a portion of our budget for charity.

One of our yearly traditions has been hosting a Professional Responsibility webinar where all the proceeds are donated to the to a charity of our choosing. This year the proceeds from the webinar went to the Royal Canadian Legion . We also had a special request to hold an Edmonton Seminar, where the proceeds from that went to the Edmonton Food Bank .

Thanks to the individuals who responded to our request to help in this campaign. As a result, we raised $950 for the Royal Canadian Legion and $350 for the Edmonton Food Bank.

For many years, we have sponsored a table at the Edmonton Advocis Christmas Luncheon and donated a prize to their silent auction or raffle. All proceeds for the last several years have went to Adopt-A-Teen , to ensure teens in need will enjoy a gift this Christmas.

We wish to thank the team at Advocis Edmonton for extending this opportunity to us. We would also like to thank our guest who joined us at our table this year. Above is a picture of the lovely individuals who joined Jason & Desiree at the luncheon.

We want to challenge everyone to remember the real meaning of Christmas. So this season, give back to your community, help a stranger, smile and wish someone a “Happy Holidays.” Spreading Christmas cheer can be given in many forms and makes a world of difference. This is something some of us were reminded of as we listened to Andrea Peyton a speaker on behalf of Adopt-A-Teen at the Advocis Christmas Luncheon.

Stollery NICU Mosaic Mural at the Sturgeon Community Hospital

Here is a little letter that we received from Craig Strain for our continued support of the Sturgeon Community Hospital.

"Good morning,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our efforts to raise funds for the Stollery NICU at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.

In an effort to create additional awareness about this initiative, the Canadian Progress Club St. Albert produced the following video which can be shared within your network and on various social media platforms: Stollery NICU Mosaic Mural

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation will be accepting donations in support of the Sturgeon Hospital Stollery NICU and, specifically, the mosaic mural campaign, until December 31 st , 2019 through the www.stollerykids.com/sturgeon   website."

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

This year we wanted to do a bit more for charities that mean something to our staff. We asked each of our team members to select a charity that they hold close to their heart and propose it to the rest of staff. By late summer, we had several different options. The team voted in September to select two charities to support in 2020; CEASE and LitWorld®
