Generations Incorporated
2019 Annual Report
Dear Friends and Supporters,

2019 marked the beginning of a new era for Generations Incorporated. Through the Read to Grow Strategic Plan, we are laying the groundwork for a transformation that will lead to sustainable growth, expanded partnership, and greater intentionality in how we provide our literacy programming to children in Greater Boston.

We know that there are far too many children being left behind simply because they lack the foundational literacy skills necessary to realize their full potential. With the dedication of our volunteer literacy coaches, donors, and partners, we are taking action. Action to ensure that children have the necessary resources to become literacy proficient by fourth grade.

261 community volunteers provided 52,188 hours of literacy coaching in 2019. Through their tireless service, over 1,500 kindergarten through third-grade students received sustained one-on-one or small group tutoring, with the majority of struggling readers seeing significant gains in their literacy and social-emotional development. We are grateful to our many supporters who made this possible.

As we look ahead, you will see us step forward as a first-in-class literacy organization, taking a leading role in addressing the youth literacy crisis in Massachusetts. To all of you who have joined us to make a difference for children in Greater Boston, Thank you
