The impact you are creating & a new Monthly Donor list
November, 2022, Vol.22
Dear Friends,

We have added into our newsletters two new sections we hope you'll enjoy. One is the new Did you know? section about Oaxaca's people. Second, is the Monthly Donors List, to acknowledge those who have signed up to make a monthly donation.

The following two examples show the impact of our work, and altruistic students who will give back to their communities.

An important honor was given to Casa de Kids law student, Amayrani, who is 23. Recently she finished her 6-month social service program required by her school. She was assigned to the Oaxaca Institute of Public Education's legal department, dealing with teachers' cases throughout the state. Amayrani was tasked to create demands, agreements, and resolutions for the teachers.

During her social service, Amayrani was selected to represent Oaxaca in a national women's meeting organized by Auna Mexico. Auna is a platform that promotes new political representation with women's leadership to achieve greater results in welfare, justice and environmental protection.

The meeting took place September 2-4 in Hidalgo, a central Mexican state north of Mexico City. Amayrani shared, "I went with the aim of representing the state and community I belong to. l learned about the importance of active participation of women in different public positions, our rights as women, and how to take into account politics to raise our voices."

The Meeting was attended by Federal deputies, businesswomen, students, and international guests from Colombia, the United States, and Brazil. Amayrani greatly enjoyed this trip as well as her social service, giving her hands-on learning experience!

She is looking forward to completing her last semester, and will be graduating in July 2023!
Meet Erick!
Thanks to friends and donors like you, CdK has a new medical student! We were able to welcome Erick, 22-year-old medical student, into our program. Erick was born in Oaxaca, but very soon after, he and his mother moved to Chetumal, which is in southern Mexico near Belize. His mother was able to find work there at a hotel.

Recently, Erick left his mother in Chetumal and has returned to the city of his birth to attend medical school. Serving humanity as a surgeon is his dream, and with your support, CdK ensures he has all the support he needs to reach those dreams.

Did you know? Only few young people in the state of Oaxaca manage to finish high school. In fact, only 18% of Oaxacan youth are in higher education. That is almost half the national rate.
Amazon Users - You can help our students while shopping by selecting Casa de Kids as your charity of choice. AmazonSmile is available at smile.amazon.com. With each purchase, AmazonSmile will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases to CdK.
Why Oaxaca? Oaxaca City is the capital of the state of Oaxaca (pronounced wah-ha-kah). While our state is famous for native and culinary arts, it ranks as the country's third poorest and has one of the highest illiteracy rates. Its mountainous terrain makes commerce and education difficult, attracting many seeking a better life to Oaxaca City.
MISSION
To empower disadvantaged youth with education and life skills, enabling them to break cycles of poverty.
VISION
A world where youth are treated with respect and empowered through education, thriving in equality, integrity and freedom, creating the life of their dreams, while giving back to their community.
