Grief Awareness Month

On Tuesday, November 19th, Dr. Cara Grosset, our Director of Psychosocial, Grief and Bereavement Care, lead a discussion on empathetic strain and shared helpful tips. The recording is available on MS Teams and will be available via our YouTube channel shortly.

Grief Text Line and Online Support is Back!


On November 19th, we were excited to announce the relaunch of the Grief Text Line and Online Support Service.


This service is available for ages 7+ and is supported our compassionate team of specially trained volunteers.

Grief Symposium: Connecting Professionals Across Sectors


Our Bereavement Team recently hosted a Grief Symposium, bringing together social workers, counselors, educators, doctors, and healthcare professionals from diverse sectors. This event fostered meaningful dialogue on grief, featuring expert speakers and panel discussions that shared insights and practical tools for supporting those navigating loss.

Community Event in Support of Keaton's House Ready for a hockey game?

The Dundas Real McCoys are dedicating their game to Keatonโ€™s House โ€“ Paul Paletta Childrenโ€™s Hospice.


Admission fees are waived in favour of a donation.

Farewell and Best Wishes to Paul and Kayla


Join us in the Great Room on Thursday, November 28th, at 1 p.m. for cake and a warm send-off to Paul Nong, our Finance Officer, and Kayla Dennahower our Volunteer Program Coordinator.


Claudia has placed two notebooks in her office for anyone who would like to write a note for Paul or Kayla. The notebooks, labelled with their names, are on her deskโ€”feel free to stop by, even if sheโ€™s not in the office.


Welcoming Grace Rogers and Heather Cozens


We are welcoming Grace Rogers, a student from St. Charles School, on Dec 3 for a two-month placement as a PSW with Brenda Fortin.


We are excited to welcome, Heather Cozens who will be covering for Kayla during her leave of absence from November 29th - Dec. 5th.

Committees

Just over a year ago, The Residential Task Force began and has become a model for organizational effectiveness.


The mandate of the Task Force is:

  • To act as a steering committee to resolve key issues with an interdisciplinary voice. 
  • Build best practices and standards. 
  • Develop systems and processes and bring the team to a collective understanding. 


The current members making a difference are:

Cam Meyers, Brenda Fortin, Donna Crooks, Mary Klingenberg, Nadine Bellhouse, Debbie Robinson, Armila Kajani, Suzanne Conroy 


Sharing a list of the hard work and some of the more tangible results of the team coming together:

  • Established mandate, members, and regular schedule, process 
  • Identified seven categories for continued improvement 
  • All orientation packagesโ€ฏ(this was a big job!)
  • Journey of a Resident Pictogram 
  • Updated Team Huddle 
  • Maintenance board and process 
  • Report tool 
  • New onboarding process
  • Skills list 
  • List of preceptors from each discipline 
  • FLOW Chart 
  • Conflict Resolution Pictogram

 

A reminder that being a part of the Task Force or other committees is a paid organizational initiative.
