HART HOUSE THEATRE UPDATE

Issue 23, 2017/2018 Season | March 27, 2018
Celebrating the diversity of dance
In one week, Hart House Theatre is pleased to present the 23rd Annual University of Toronto Festival of Dance.

Created as an avenue to provide dance groups on campus the opportunity to perform on stage for an audience, the Festival of Dance has now grown into a celebration of the diversity and prosperity of the U of T dance community. Past events have included over 60 different dance pieces, well over 200 performers and an impressive variety of dance forms including jazz, ballet, ballroom, modern, contact improv, hip-hop, musical theatre, Irish, Latin, and Egyptian belly dancing, just to name a few. With such an abundance of dance groups associated with U of T, participation in the festival is a great opportunity for dance groups to interact, collaborate and promote their own work and ventures.

On stage April 6 and 7, 2018. More here >>

An alum of our stage doing great things
Augusto Bitter in TIDELINE
In the fall of 2016, Augusto Bitter performed on our stage in Tideline; an incredibly powerful Governor-General-Award-winning play by Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wajdi Mouawad. Since then he has been lending his talents to independent theatre around the city and has grown into a professional career.

You can see him on stage now at Factory Theatre in their critically acclaimed production of The Monument. "Augusto Bitter’s performance as Stetko is immediately repellent, and yet you can’t take your eyes off him." - The Globe and Mail. Ah, Augusto...we knew you when! Keep up the fantastic work!
