South Florida's historic arts incubator and creative laboratory,
ArtServe is advancing the arts for social good!
Fort Lauderdale-based ArtServe, one of the country’s first arts incubators, has a 30-year history of building Broward County communities through the arts. Each year, its programs contribute tangibly to the region’s economy, help 2,000 artists sell their work and build businesses, and engage countless citizens who walk through the doors. ArtServe inspires, supports and advances their diverse members, artists, and community by promoting artistic development. Over the last year, ArtServe, like many other organizations, has had to pivot and diversify the experience for members and guests while following strict safety guidelines. Jason Hughes, the new Executive Director, and his hard working staff have come up with engaging ways to keep this historic gem active in the community and available as an appreciated resource. Events are now offered to members virtually as well as in person. Last week, the cutting edge "Queen of VR," Alissa Christine, wowed an in-person and socially distant group of ArtServe supporters with an unforgettable performance of virtual reality artwork. The VIP exclusive event was held for Friends of ArtServe members, ArtServe's new donor program that works to sustain the organization's mission and artistic vision. The program was broadcast live and streamed into the homes of many supporters. If you are seeking an opportunity to learn, create and grow, perhaps an immersive workshop class featuring in-depth and exciting artistic content is a suitable option. The latest offerings at ArtServe are all designed to take you on a journey. Taught by award-winning artistic luminaries with years of experience, each workshop will give you a safe and socially distant opportunity to indulge in the arts, meet new people, and learn new skills.
We are proud to support Art Serve in their mission and look forward to keeping up with more of what's happening in Broward. For more information on everything ArtServe including exhibitions, classes or more; visit www.artserve.org.

"A gift of a lifetime" by Cindy Eden
|
Cindy started painting about 15 years ago after being introduced to painting at her employer’s firm wide annual retreat. Her medium was acrylic and her muse was the people she would meet in her travels. Cindy and her husband Jim, have a second home in the mountains of North Carolina. In the summer of 2019, Cindy received the “gift of a lifetime”. An acclaimed watercolorist by the name of Stephen Scott Young moved into their small mountain community. “It had been my dream to have the chance to learn from a great artist.” She spent the summer doing everything he told her to do. Study the masters, copy the masters, see the light, see the contrast and practice, practice, practice. She switched from acrylic to watercolor. Cindy said, “I’m sure I drove Scott crazy in those first few months. Hardly a day passed without me texting or emailing him photos of my studies, asking countless technique questions, and sharing the discoveries I was making”.
During Covid, she expanded her subject matter beyond figures to Coggin’s Creek which runs beside their mountain home. “I never tire of the view from our porch and the sound of the water passing by. It is where I paint during the summer. Coggin’s Creek has been my happy place during a turbulent year.”
Cindy Eden has been a member of FAB since 2015. Currently, she is on Board for FAB as acting Treasurer, heads the Finance committee and is also active in the Corporate Partner and Grant committees. We appreciate Cindy's dedication to FAB as well as her amazing contribution to art with these masterful watercolor paintings.

Funding Arts Broward Corporate Partner Program
|
As we all know, 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone!
Some Corporations have suffered more than others. As leading arts ambassadors of Broward, we have a greater responsibility to the arts organizations in our communities, now more than ever. We are requesting of all FAB members who may know someone in a Broward County business, who would enjoy being part of the FAB family, to contact either Sandra Stella at 561-346-3402 or Jim Eden at 954-258-3434 who are the Co-Chairs of the Corporate Partner Program, and make an introduction of this company to one or both of them. Sandra and Jim can explain the benefits to their being involved in supporting the Arts in Broward through the FAB Corporate Partner Program. You may also send a message by clicking here.
We thank you for YOUR continued support of FAB and your loyalty to sustaining the ARTS in our communities.
