The Alexandria Redevelopment & Housing Authority (ARHA) is opening the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and Public Housing waiting lists. ARHA will begin accepting applications starting, January 11th, 2021 at 8:00 AM EST until 11:59 PM EST, on January the 13th, 2021. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ARHA will only be accepting applications electronically. There will be no paper applications available and applications will not be accepted at any ARHA locations. In addition, fax and/or written requests for applications will not be acknowledged. To apply to ARHA’s waiting lists, please go to our online platform located at the following link: https://www.waitlistcheck.com/VA2073. This application platform can be utilized via desk top computers, tablets, and cell phones. On the platform, you will find instructions on how to fill out and submit the waiting list application(s). IMPORTANT INFORMATION • You must be at least 18 years of age to apply. • There are no fees for applying to ARHA’s wait lists. • Applications will be placed on the waiting list by preference, then by the date and time the application is submitted. • All information provided is subject to verification. Therefore, applying does not guarantee that the application will be accepted. • ARHA does not provide emergency housing. A reasonable accommodation may be granted for those who due to a disability, are unable to fill out an application electronically. Reasonable accommodations will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Please be aware that verification of disability will be required. If you are granted a reasonable accommodation, assistance with applying will be provided. Requests for reasonable accommodations will be accepted starting, December 21, 2020 at 8:00 AM and will end at 4:00 PM EST, January 10th, 2021 at 5:00 PM EST.
