Welcome to our July newsletter and my first as Foundation President. It is an honor and a privilege to serve and especially to follow Steve Goucher who was an exemplary president and will continue to help me as our past president on the executive committee.
I have served on the board since 1996, second only to past president Ken Williams as the longest serving current board member. During that time I have served for several years as Secretary, then the past several years as Vice President. For the past four years I’ve also served as the founding Blue & Gold Gala chair, a position I now turn over to Farrah Smith as chair and Liz Foster as her co-chair. Both will do an amazing job as we continue with our largest fundraising event in 2021.
The Blue & Gold Gala is an event the board had talked about for years, and with the support especially of Steve the Gala committee was able to take the board’s dream of a large fundraising event and actually bring it to fruition. I’m pleased that we are already looking at our fifth year in 2021.
I’m also excited the FFA Foundation is bringing back our Bustin’ Clay for FFA event again this year on September 26
th
. I hope to see many that attended the event in years past and some new faces as well!
I plan to continue the close association we’ve developed with the organizations that we support; the Arizona FFA Association, the Agricultural Teachers Association, the Arizona FFA Alumni and, of course, the University of Arizona’s Department of Agricultural Education.
I also look forward to increasing our relationship with all of our sponsors, both business and individual relationships. We consider every sponsor an important one! Thank you for your continued support of our youth, their teachers and our alumni.
