5th and 6th Grade Honesty and Kindness Presentation
5th and 6th grade students participated in an online presentation on kindness and honesty on Thursday, November 19th and Friday, November 20th.

The Kindness presentation was led by Student Council President Sophia E. and Student Council Vice President Ayah A. Sophia and Ayah did an outstanding job sharing the importance of kindness with our 5th and 6th grade students. They also talked about how bullying negatively affects both the victim and the bully. They asked students to commit to being kind to each other all the time. Sophia and Ayah will also be making this presentation to 7th and 8th grade students.

Dean Loomis led the presentation on Honesty and Integrity. He asked students to be honorable and show integrity by incorporating honesty into everything they do. He asked students to develop their integrity, keep their word, and be role models for their peers and for younger students.

Advice for Screen Time

Be sure your child is following their remote learning schedule. We have a number of breaks built in to daily schedule to help them. Make sure they Take their breaks away from the screen. Sometimes children are staying online during break to socialize and that just increases their screen time. So have them walk away during breaks!

Here are some other options we can suggest:

  • Blue light glasses
  • Adjust screen brightness
  • Allow the screen to be in high contrast mode
  • Making sure your child is working in an area with adequate lighting
  • Elevate computer screen to be more at eye-level (use books or boxes to prop underneath)

A Message from Our Board of Directors
CCA holds monthly Committee meetings, tailor-made to engage our CCA community in conversations about a whole variety of topics...
  • Do you have a great idea or a special skill?
  • Are you looking to offer your volunteer hours where you have a particular interest or expertise?
  • Would you enjoy an open discussion with members of the Parent Board, Administration, and CCA Community about an issue that's important to you?

We'd love to have you join us at a CCA Committee Meeting!  CCA Committee Meetings are the BEST way to participate in active discussions about the "big-picture" issues that are near-and-dear to your heart. In addition to Committee-level projects, the work done by CCA Committees refines and prepares those issues brought to the Board as formal Action Items. Parent volunteer hours are available for attending committee meetings, and for participating in committee work.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in Committee discussions!

Anyone interested in participating in Committee Meetings can refer to the CCA Master Calendar for dates and times, or click here for more information.

Embracing Life's Challenges: Turning 2020 losses into 2021 gains
December 1, 2020: 9:15 am - 11:15 am
Not all of 2020 was a bust even though the year might have felt that way; in fact, we learned more about ourselves following the shutdown of the world as we once knew it than we realize. No need to rehash the challenges of our changed world, specifically the hardships, the setbacks and the unknown rather let's focus on what we have learned about ourselves, our ability to overcome, our ability to accept and our ability to persevere...thus turning the losses to gains.
